Let me just start this review off by saying I absolutely love lady glaze. I've ordered 24 donuts for xmas. Ordered 24 for Easter. I go every Sunday to my Guelph location for a nice walk and a donut it's a perfect day.
Let's get to the point here tho.
With mothers day being today obviously pre orders were made available. WITH limited number of holiday donuts still available in store says the website and Instagram page.
What an absolute lie. What an absolute terrible strategy they have for the holiday.
It's always crossed my mind how a donut store can sell out of every single donut by 930 when they open at 9. How does that happen? You see each store gets a limited amount of donuts and they use that to prefill their pre orders. What a terrible strategy.
Go today at 930 hoping hey thats enough time for a new donut. Wrong. Myself and multiple others in the store go in to try them out and we r told sorry we only have 2 donuts available for the public the rest r for pre orders. 2 KINDS !!!!!! RIDICULOUS
Not only that but the poor girl working today looked like she's been sick for a month. Grey face, couldn't talk at all the other girl had to do all the talking. Coughing as she pulls the donuts out of the rack. 10000% should not be at work or atleast wearing a freaking mask.
In general I've never been so mad. And I never write reviews.
Why say ur gonna have some in store when you're not going to ? Why not take pre orders and cap it then bake the amount u need and have some at your stores ? Absolutely beautiful day and Guelph is sold out by 10 am that's ridiculous.
Why is this girl dieing on my donuts so I can eat those ? I even overheard her asking to call a few pre orders to tell them they don't have the donuts they requested. You're telling me they took orders and will call people the day of to say hey btw we don't have these for your pre order so u can only select from the public menu. (Only apple fritters)
I left the store and told the person I was with I may never go back. Seems ridiculous or over done but I just can't believe the way they stock their donuts and stuff like this mixed in with the super sick staff I just can't.
Couldn't give it a 1 star cus I do love the place but this is a very very very close 2...
Read moreWe had the opportunity to try your donuts today. I personally had 1/2 of a Mint Chocolate and 1/2 a Belmont Cream.
I felt the Mint Chocolate was too sweet for my liking. It looked great, filing was tasteful and a decent amount, the chocolates on top were a nice touch.
The Belmont Cream was a let down though. The chocolate icing with the little ball decorations was tasteful. But the cream inside was almost unnoticeable. I was expecting to bite into the donut and get a great amount and pleasant taste of the filling. But to my disappointment it was not present. I don't know if this is a one off and just a operations miscue or the amount of cream inside the donut is the norm.
I feel that it is not asking much for Lady Glaze to pump another ounce or two of cream into this donut and make it really something special. At $5 a donut I feel there should be enough profit margin to top off the cream. Thank you.
ADDITIONAL INFO
As you can see I was contacted by management of Lady Glaze and they "wanted to make it right". They offered me 4 free donuts and I accepted. It's donuts, who wouldn't.
I thought I would be able to select my own donuts but when I arrived at the store they were already packaged to go.
When I opened the box to my surprize there were only 3 donuts. A Belmont Cream, a Belgian Sprinkle and a Red one with red granulated sugar on top. Unfortunately I don't know the name of this one.
Now to the quality.
The Belmont Cream donut had less filling then the 1st time. How this can be, I don't know because it was almost non-existent the first time. If I had to describe the amount of cream inside this donut I would compare it to the diameter and thickness of a dime!
The Belgian Sprinkle was nothing special. I would describe it as a kids donut.
Now the red donut. It was the best of the three. It had a dark filling inside that was generous and the proper amount for a filled donut.
The red donut is what kept my review at 3 stars because the poor showing of the Belmont Cream would have made it a 1 STAR RATING.
I will not be returning...
Read morePlease pay your employees a living wage. Customers shouldn't be faced with having to look like the "cheap" person for not tipping even 10% on a $28 order of donuts that literally takes a minute to put in a box. I may have considered it if the person behind the counter (brown hair with glasses) was enthusiastic, made conversation, smiled, wished me a nice day, etc., but she looked like she didn't want to be there. I have had the same experience with this person twice before when I've gone in and it's never an enjoyable experience - it's so awkward I want to get in and out as soon as possible. The location is dark and drab and not very inviting - it's also located beside a church where people (mainly men) hang out swearing, yelling, smoking, and spitting. The donuts themselves look pretty and the frilly embellishments are nice, the donuts themselves taste stale. This is the second time I've bought stale-tasting donuts from here. I won't be buying any more. I like to give second chances but 2/3 times being disappointed is enough. I can honestly say that if a person wants instagram-worthy donuts to take pictures of and then encase in resin to use as a paperweight they are great... if you want a donut that is fresh, Tim Hortons (sadly) does a better job for a fraction...
