I'm torn to leave this review but as I have thought on it for a couple weeks and land on the same conclusion, so here we go.
Without a doubt this establishment brings some great carribean and carribean inspired meals to guelph which is very welcoming for me as I am of carribean decent and have lived her for 30 years. I have given repeated business as I enjoy they curry goat, doubles and would even stop by from time to time to enjoy the live entertainment. With only positive encounters.
A couple of weeks back I was looking to park in the public parking lot next to the building around bar hours. The lot was full and there were a couple of guys who were holding parking spots by standing in them and not allowing others to park. After a ten minute wait in the lot for the vehicles ahead of me to clear I approached a freshly opened spot. Just as I was pulling in one of the "spot holders" steps infront of my vehicle and demands that I find somewhere else to park. Despite having seen him successfully do this to the other vehicles ahead of me to ensure his entourage have good parking I refused because we were there first which made the "spot holder" very aggressive and disrespectful. The owner of rise and shine then approached the stale mate and advised me to find somewhere else to park as he had a "artist" who was comming for the parking spot. The spot holder became increasingly more bold and vulgar with his language and my passenger advised the owner that we would leave and to calm his guy down. So we left.
What claim does rise and shine have to the public parking lot next door? None...
So to have unpleasant guys antagonizing people looking for parking and mentioning your business by name does not bode well for rise and shine. The owner should not have condoned a potential customer being disrespected and insulted by his staff and or entertainment.
Still some great food and service inside the establishment but this certainly can't be a healthy long term plan for weekends as it will likely turn away business as it has...

Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Rise & Shine, the hidden gem of a breakfast place in Guelph that brings together the best of Caribbean and Canadian flavors. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the tone for a wonderful dining experience.
The menu offers a delightful blend of traditional Canadian breakfast favorites infused with the unique spices and flavors of the Caribbean. The fusion of these two culinary worlds is truly a match made in breakfast heaven! I opted for their signature Caribbean-Canadian breakfast platter, and it did not disappoint. The ackee and saltfish paired harmoniously with fluffy pancakes, creating a symphony of flavors that danced on my taste buds.
What sets Rise & Shine apart, aside from their mouthwatering food, is their commitment to affordability. It's refreshing to find a place where you can savor a delectable meal without breaking the bank. Their prices are reasonable and perfectly aligned with the quality and quantity they offer.
The staff at Rise & Shine are a testament to their dedication to customer satisfaction. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve, they added a personal touch that made my visit all the more enjoyable.
Whether you're a fan of Caribbean cuisine, Canadian classics, or simply looking for an extraordinary breakfast experience, Rise & Shine is the place to be. With its inviting ambiance, exceptional fusion dishes, and pocket-friendly prices, this spot has earned a permanent place on my list of favorite breakfast joints in Guelph.
If you're craving a culinary adventure that marries two cultures in the most delicious way possible, look no further than Rise & Shine. It's a true testament to the magic that happens when diverse flavors come together on a plate.
Don't miss out on the chance to indulge in this Caribbean-Canadian breakfast haven – it's a rise and shine experience worth...
Read moreThis was my go to favorite restaurant to go to for breakfast. A regular one or two days a week. The service is friendly, food is good, atmosphere is cozy and comfy.
I am not able to return based on principle and they way I was turned away. I am a service industry veteran, this isn't the way to do business.
Arrived at 2.20pm, breakfast served until 3. Waited at host stand for a few minutes, the manager/owner saw me waiting, the host arrives and asks if she can help me.
I asked for a table for 1, as usual. I was told they couldn't seat me as they closed early. At 2.20. It was 2.23 at this point.
The signage posted "see server for a table" was still out.
I asked to speak to a manager, the one who saw me waiting came to assist. I plead my case, and was turned away as "our workers are tired after a busy day"
I drove across the city to enjoy this breakfast, and to be turned away because they decided to close early (without notice)
Had I been attended to prior to my wait, (maybe by the manager/owner that was seated enjoying food watching me wait for a table that wasn't available), i would have been sat in time for the Early closing at 2.20.
It is almost as if they waited the few minutes to be able to not seat me. If I was the manager, I would have seen someone waiting and either, advised immediately that they were closing, or better yet, seat your regular ASAP, and get the table of 1 order in amongst the other orders, that would have had zero to minimal impact on the service staff. I could understand if I was in a party of 10.
Prior to this, my rating would have been 5 star. The experience has really troubled me since, and I am sad that the handleing of my last experience and professionalism will not allow me to go back to my once favorite breakfast place.
I would enjoy an opportunity to have this...
