Starbucks — Restaurant in Guelph

THOSE WITH FOOD ALLERGIES TAKE NOTE. If you have a food allergy or milk allergy please do not take a chance at this location. A couple of weeks ago I ordered an iced coffee with coconut milk. I have a milk allergy of which they were aware. When it was made I did not see coconut milk on the bar so double checked when handed the drink and the barista assured me it was coconut milk. I took a few sips and could taste dairy and so I asked again restating that I had an allergy. The barista looked startled and said she better remake it 'just to be sure'. The second drink was completely different in colour, at which point I knew she had lied to me the first time. I was incredibly sick for 5 days because of this 'mistake' and starbucks has not taken the matter very serious at all. They have offered to give me a 50 dollar gift card to offer me a better experience 🤔 This is not the first time this has happened at this location to me. Due to how sick I was, I have decided that I cannot chance returning to this location or any starbucks until they take allergies more seriously. We ordered a vegan drink for our 7 year old daughter b/c she is seriously allergic to dairy and gets anaphylactic reactions when she consumes dairy. After consuming the dragonfruit refresher, she started breaking out in hives, swelling, coughing, etc.

Instead of immediately apologizing and offering a refund when notified of (what we suspect) was their cross-contamination, they offered her a free drink. We had to argue with them about this, telling them: "No, she doesn't want a free drink! She's sick and afraid!"

If I could give 0 stars, I would. It is clear to me that the baristas at this Starbucks location do not have training in allergies and do not take...

I'd never been to starbucks before but I've got to say, I'll definitely be coming back! The staff was wonderful, friendly and super helpful. The barista who took my order (I think Page was her name?) was super patient with me considering I took forever to order one of starbucks' fancy coffees. She was able to tell me the difference between the flavours and was more knowledgeable about coffee than anyone should be (but i guess that's starbucks!) and the coffee I got was actually super delicious!
