z-teca Mexican Eatery (Guelph) — Restaurant in Guelph

I visited Z-Teca for the first time this evening and had a very disappointing experience. I have heard great things about this restaurant but unfortunately it did not make a satisfactory first impression.

Upon entering the restaurant me and my girlfriend waited for a little more than 5 minutes before being served as all the employees were working in the back. We ordered a Veggie Crumble burrito and were somehow given a Battered Cod burrito, not even close to what we ordered. I don't understand how this happened but the staff member was condescending when we politely pointed out the error and waited patiently for her to make the correct burrito. "You didn't see her put the fish on?" the employee rudely remarked, referring to the other female that made our order incorrectly initially, as if it were our duty as customers to supervise the staff as they perform their work.

I don't usually let an incorrect order ruin my experience at a restaurant, but the fact that the staff were so impolite regarding a mistake of their's left a bad taste...

I want to love this place but I’m often left underwhelmed and upset at how much I’ve spent (and how little I’ve gotten). I’m not sure why it is more expensive than other local burrito places, since the food is not better. I understand the effects of rising gas prices, and food costs are through the roof, but if the tortilla chips are locally made, as stated, why is one bag $7.00? I left with a burrito, side guacamole and a bag of chips and spent $28.00! I didn’t even get a drink. The guacamole is bland and the roasted jalapeños (as claimed) are not present. The tortilla chips are supposed to be fried upon order (see pic); instead, they’re sitting in a bag under a heat lamp, and dry as a result. I always appreciate a burrito place, but Mucho Burrito (across from the mall), and Fresh Burrito (Speedvale Ave) are...

This place could be epic. The quality of food is awesome. The problem is the staff. The owner is great & the other dark guy, but the white guy & all the dark girls are sub par almost to the point of rude. They act as if they are doing the customer.. a favour. Even if no one is there, they rush you and act like you are annoying. Never a smile.. might crack the face I guess. A lot of my friends have said the same. Start to avoid the place because you know the servers will be only tolerating customers. Really ? This place will go down , not because of the food but because of the ignorant,...
