The three star rating has nothing to do with the food. The two items I had were prepared well and had great flavor. The green curry soup was one of the best I have had. The pad thai was excellent. The reason only three stars this was a pick up order. I don't know if they assumed I would be taking this home. I was not taking it home. There were no napkins in the bag, no cutlery of any kind. The green curry soap the container it was put into was a cheap plastic. As I have ordered from other places soap generally comes in something more sturdy than the container my soup was in. As such after two spoons of the soup the container gave way and it ended up on the floor of my car. I was annoyed by this as restaurants in Ontario have only been able to offer take out or pickup. It's not like this was new. There was a complete lack of care to pickup. Poor containers not meant to withstand the heat(temperature) of the soup in the flimsy container. My family has been going to the Thai Villa Cuisine since we moved to Guelph more than 6 years ago. The food is absolutely fantastic. My eldest daughter has gotten the full tour of the kitchen from the previous owner's shoulders more than once, and now our middle child is learning to use chopsticks here. The service is exceptional, Chef's Special soup and jasmine green tea is provided free to those picking up their lunch orders while they wait. They have fantastic Pad Se Ewe, Pad Thai, and Holy Spicy Basil. Their homemade and handmade Fresh Spring Rolls are one of their best options, while my kids could eat their own weight in the Crispy Veggie Spring Rolls. (I doubt they make those in house.) I have tried all of their Curries (of which they have 5 or 6) and my favourite is the Green Curry, but the Red Curry with Pineapple is a pleasant alternative for those who fancy the spicy sweet options. I placed my order just before 5:30pm. It took over an hour for the food to arrive at my door. When I got it in and opened it, I realized one of my dishes had been forgotten despite it being on the bill. I called the restaurant and they apologized; my forgotten dish was sitting on the counter. They assured me that someone would deliver the missed dish right away. It took another 65 minutes for the forgotten dish to be delivered to my door. I called them just before the delivery person showed up and they had very little to say other than "it's on its way", I was quite unimpressed to say the least seeing as I had waited over 2 hours for a single dish. The food was fairly mediocre. The only real spice or seasoning I tasted was cilantro in both of the dishes I ordered. The peanut sauce was very bland and incredibly thin, unlike any peanut sauce I've had from another Thai place, quite disappointing overall.
