Machi’s Tea — Restaurant in Halifax

short review: awful place, spend money at cha time.

I should have read the reviews first, but I didn't think milk tea could be so bad that it was necessary. I ordered the taro milk tea. The worker there messed up putting the top on so when I tilted the cup it dripped everywhere. The tea was watered down even with lite ice. The flavor was weak. I have had taro milk tea elsewhere and they put enough powder for it to be purple, this was brown. Maybe it was my fault, but there were no boba put in, just hard bits of raw taro. The worker wanted to argue about it, basically framing it like I should have known better. Well the picture of the taro milk tea was purple if I remember, and when you google "taro milk tea" it's purple. Colour aside it should at least taste like taro which it didn't. I had three sips, split some on the floor because of the top, and then gave it back.

Also the store is poorly lite and half of it is unfinished/empty shelves? Looks like they are going out of or just...

I've tried the pearl milk tea, the passion fruit tea (with coconut jelly), and the egg waffles. The first time I tried the pearl milk tea it was ok, but subsequent times it was subpar at best - same goes for the passion fruit tea. When I ordered the egg waffles, they literally just threw it into a paper bag, no extra wrapping or placed into a cup like the pictures indicate and the paper bag was wet and soggy when I received it which did not help. Also, they don't seal the lid of the tea like most other places which I do not like. Even if they want to take the route of not sealing, the lid needs to be better. Overall, would not recommend and would not try again. I haven't been to the store (ordered on Uber Eats) so can't comment on service...

Stumbled upon Machi’s Tea and it’s officially our new go-to spot for milk tea in the city! We tried the Brown Sugar Milk Tea and Oreo Milk Tea, both were absolutely delicious. The brown sugar flavor was rich and perfectly balanced, while the Oreo milk tea was creamy and indulgent without being too sweet.

What really sets this place apart is the atmosphere and service. The owner (or employee possibly both!) was incredibly nice, welcoming, and attentive. You can tell they genuinely care about each customer’s experience.
