Today is my friend’s birthday and I planned to get a pumpkin pie for her. Only it has to be from Gingerbread Haus. Six years ago, my first autumn in Canada, I randomly walked into Gingerbread Haus. Didn’t know what to pick, I chose to try the seasonal special, the pumpkin pie with whipped cream. It was amazing, so unforgettable. The next time I walked in the shop. Sorry, the pumpkin pie was SOLD OUT. Just like this, year after year, when it was in season, they sold out quickly; when it was not in season, no pumpkin pies. Maybe you can give it a try on Easter. I was told so. I tried. No Easter pumpkin pies. The bakeries were so good and business went so well that making pumpkin pies on Easter was not possible. Luckily I stayed all these years in the same neighborhood and still have friends living nearby. After another random but magic afternoon walk, I pulled open the shop door and found the pumpkin pies available again. Yes, this year we have the luck to enjoy another Gingerbread Haus pumpkin pie. But last time on Thursday July 10th I came to buy Rum bowls for a family gathering, first for so little desert price jump high from last time I bought it. and when I bought 5 of them, each cost $4.05, with tax I spend more than $23. and cashier did put them in small brown bag! when you selling desert for $4+ and its few of them, you serving it like piece of garbage or leftovers in brown bag. I wasn't intentionally walking around the city nude, but in the mess of my morning routine, I often forget a step, such as getting my phone, getting my keys, getting my wallets. That morning, I remembered to put on a shirt, but, in the mess of things, forgot to put on pants and underwear, and did not realize that until after I had left from the Gingerbread Haus and heard a terrified scream in the parking lot.
The staff were completely indifferent to that fact, and didn't even mention that I was not wearing pants, almost as if they were so busy making delicious pastries and bread that they didn't...
