Decor: outdated and tacky. Stains on tablecloth. Bunch of ads for things they're also selling in the restaurant: are they a restaurant or a health food store? Ambience: I assume it's family of the owners that sit around in the restaurant watching Korean news in the restaurant. I honestly wonder if they care about presenting the restaurant as a professional establishment. Food: Stew: I had the most confusing stew that they said was very popular and tasty. It felt like it was a mix of ingredients they just had leftover. There was an olive in a Korean stew. If you know anything about Korean food, you do not put olives in stew. There were random chickpeas in there as well. It was so haphazardly put together--it genuinely confused me why they even felt this would be acceptable. I felt pretty gross when I got home wondering if the ingredients they used were actually fresh enough to be considered decent. Side dishes: I've never seen a Korean restaurant charge extra for side dishes. That's all and fine. However, they assume that you've chosen the deluxe version and make you pay for it after. The kimchi is the worst I've ever tasted at a Korean restaurant. The eggs were bland and tasted like cardboard somehow because it was so dry. Value for money I've been here once before where I felt the food was borderline but would keep my longing for Korean food at bay. I regret my choice to return with forcing the "delux" menu on us and the quality of food today.
I see a lot of positive reviews and I'm genuinely confused. If this restaurant was open in Toronto, it would have most definitely closed in very short months. Although, we were the only ones dining there on a Friday night so I should have clued in with that as well.
I generally don't pay much heed to overtly negative reviews. However, I present my objective findings and recommend that you do not eat at...
Read moreOrdered here for myself and my girlfriend, granted my unagi eel that I got was quite good and I would order it again however my girlfriend's experience was less than pleasant. For starters the cheese that we had ordered as an extra for her kimchi fried rice was not present, and that was a good few coins to be down. Secondly there was a plethora of what seemed to be freeze dried peas or mixed vegetables or something? either way it was extremely unpalatable. Thirdly the vast quantity of kimchi that was in her dish was borderline rancid, and something that probably even a raccoon would choke on. Needless to say I won't be ordering from this joint again....
Read moreI went to Song's with some friends as part of the 2024 Quinpool Oodles of Noodles event. We were all blown away with how fantastic the dishes were and how incredibly magnificent and kind the staff are.
Each of our dishes had amazing flavours in the sauces and broths. It's definitely a place we'll be returning to again and again to make our way through the menu since each piece seems to be so stellar.
Dishes ordered: Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup, Banquet Noodle, Vegetable Udon, Assorted Dumplings, Stir-fried rice cakes (original), and some complimentary house-made green tea to top it all off.
Kamsahamnida, Song's! We'll...
