The Bread Lounge Bakery — Restaurant in Halifax

I went in for breakfast while waiting for my tires to get changed across the road. Was apprehensive because there wasn't any sandwiches that screamed "breakfast" to me, but I ordered the special where you get coffee, a sandwich and a pastry. Came to about $12.

The sandwich was amazing, so flavourful, and the pastry (apple streudel) was delicious, with pastry that was soft, so it didn't explode all over the table while I ate it.

My only issue was with the server. He got to me fast enough, but never actually looked at me, kept his head down, and had to keep getting him to repeat himself cause he kept mumbling. Was my only issue.

Back on the plus side, the "lounge" part of the name really comes through! I sat on the couch with my food and a magazine, and was very comfortable for the hour I was there. I definitely would have stayed longer if I could!

This place is definitely a hidden gem, and I'm hoping I just caught the staff on a bad day, cause it's definitely a place I want to go back to....

What a Disaster this place is. I heard a lot of positive feedback about this place. I ordered Custom Cake for my Daughter's Birthday 3- days in advance.

Went to pick up as per agreed time.... guess what..? cake is not there.... infact, it was never prepared...!!!! I got shocked...what now..? I have to take that cake straight to my kids Birthday Party.

Owner calls me and admitted his mistake, but asked for another 2hr 30 mins to make it ready, and was giving it for FREE to fix this one.

I am not a freebee guy, if you cannot do work when you are being paid for, one can Imagine how a no charge work would look like.

One can imagine how it feels, to not have a custom cake for your kids birthday party.... Owner said he is in baking cakes for 30years... is this what he has been doing...? like this..?

What a shame... a sorry could not fix the emotions that a kid have to see her customized cake.... filthy place.. been there for the first and the...

The bread lounge use to be my favourite local cafe. I lived locally and every morning I would stop by for my morning coffee, and would typically pair it with a pastry and sandwich.this was 2022 ruffly during the decline of the pandemic. The coffee was bold, the food was good and the pastries were pleasant…but I’ve noticed a decline…the service, the coffee and sadly its food. The coffee tastes watery,the service (from what I have viewed the last 5 consecutive times I’ve been there) has not been the best and the bread for the sandwiches are hard and chewy. Of course food in general is completely subjective and don’t let my review completely write this place off. I’m mostly wanted to send my disappointment on a place I dearly loved.
