I don't often visit, given pizza joint style food isn't my usual dinner. On a whim, I decided to order the poutine. TTD's fries have always been some of the best in town and didn't disappoint today. Tender on the inside with a lightly crunchy exterior, and with that delectable undertone you can only get from a place that also fries chicken.
The wait time was a little long for poutine, but geared well for producing it while a pizza (if ordered together) is cooking. Just over fifteen minutes.
The gravy was a little on the potent side, so until the recipe is adjusted, I recommend taking a minute to evenly distribute it though the dish so it doesn't overpower the great fries. The cheese curds were a bit on the conservative side. Portion size was a touch on the small side compared to what I'd expect from a large but fair for the price.
I could sing the poutine's praises, but reality is that TTD makes really good pizza and it has great value. Unless you're craving the poutine, a fresh pizza is definitely what you should order when you walk in.
Atmosphere is the same sort of fake fancy you see in some Starbucks and McDonald's (or the nearby Pizzaiolo) these days, but definitely has the budget vibe despite the veneer of authenticity that the tiles on the wall below the brick wallpaper lend. The venue is pleasant by fast food standards, but makes no attempt to hide that it's fast food.
Service is perfunctory and suits the venue. Enter, order, wait, receive food. The dining counter against the window is actually positioned at a comfortable height, unlike most places in town...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHonestly, quite stunned to see the high review average on here. We've only ordered once so maybe they just messed up our order or something. We won't be ordering again to find out.
For reference, there were 6 adults eating, and 2 kids. I asked them each their opinion after and factored that in to my review.
The price was fairly good. We got two extra large pizzas for $21 + tax. So we decided to order local over the big franchise pizza places. Part of why I feel bad leaving a poor review but I'm trying to be honest here with our experience.
The taste of the pizza was extremely bland. It had virtually no flavor at all. The dough was very chewy, if not right out difficult to eat. We usually let our dog inhale the crust after but even she had to chew it for about a minute before swallowing. Typically we like leftovers as well with pizza and it was even worse eating it then.
Are the pizzas on specials a day old or is that supposed to be the texture and taste?
Very disappointed with the experience being new to town, wanting to support local and looking for a new pizza place. This was not the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnfortunately after our last experience, we will no longer be returning. We ordered the same deal we always do. When I picked it up, the price had changed. I asked if the price had gone up (which is common for everything right now) and the girl said yes. Ok no problem, just curious ā¦but when I saw the bill, the price was the same. They just overcharged me, quite a lot) for extra toppings. We were allowed 6 toppings, we picked 4 (one of which counted as a double topping). When I confronted her about this, she said the best she can do is give a $2 discount. Which was way less than the cost of the āextra toppingsā. I didnāt agree with that, but she didnāt care, so I left. Drove to Acton for the exact same order and got charged the correct price. So we will no longer be supporting the Georgetown location. My family actually prefers the taste of the Acton location. As the Georgetown location has really upped the spice/garlic level in the sauce. Youād think chains would keep the ingredients the same at all locations, but I guess thatās...
