Drove an hour and a half solely for this reservation and would do it again in a heartbeat. A very unique location, its large windows give great natural lighting in the day, and the space transitions into a vibrant and dynamic spot in the evening. Our server, Alicia, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the menu; she provided us with great recommendations and an amazing experience. The severs pay close attention to ensuring that every detail is considered, changing our cutlery and keeping glasses full, helping our meal carry on seamlessly. Every course was a show stopper, plated beautifully and bringing together lots of carefully curated flavours.
The scallops as an appetizer were the highlight of our meal. The scallops were sweet, buttery and expertly paired with pork belly and a rosemary bacon jam that added mild smokey notes to complement the brightness of the lemon sauce. This is a dish we will be thinking about for a long time, and is more than worth returning for. We enjoyed our appetizer alongside Conversate’s warm, house-made focaccia which was served with a delicious and tangy ranch butter. I can’t imagine a better introduction to the kitchen’s talent and way to open our meal.
We chose the beef short rib and rack of lamb as our entrees and were blown away by both. The beef and lamb were both incredibly tender and flavourful, and the positions were very generous. The accompaniments were also amply portioned, perfect for sharing to get a little taste of everything. The most difficult part of the meal was choosing which accompaniment we each wanted as they all sounded fantastic. My only critique was that the horseradish crema alongside the topping of so many whole peppercorns, both were served with the short rib, leaned into being slightly overpowering with two such potent flavours competing with the succulency of the braised beef. However, this really comes down to personal taste and didn’t at all take away from how much we enjoyed both dishes.
Conversate clearly aims to sell an experience rather than just a meal, our expectations were beyond exceeded. Everything was fresh, flavourful, and artistically presented. The restaurant is currently offering an incredibly generous Birthday Sunday deal. Whether this is a permanent or limited time offer, I would highly recommend that diners take advantage of it while they can, as Conversate gave me my most memorable birthday experience to date. I am already planning my next visit as there are too many dishes on this menu that I am eager to try for myself. I offer my highest compliments to the entire staff at Conversate, we had an exceptional experience and can’t wait to dine...
Read moreMy new go to Restaurant. I have working in the industry for over 30 years and had the opportunity to dine at many restaurants. Some great and some not so great. I was in on a first date and we could not have asked for a better experience. From the moment we walked in we were impressed. The ambiance and decor are incredibly welcoming and not pretentious at all. Our first encounter with the staff was warm and welcoming. We were seated and our server Riki (my apologies if the spelling is incorrect) was outstanding. Her knowledge of the memo and wine list is impressive. She answered every question quickly and accurately. She is an incredible server and helped to make our experience second to none. One of the owners came to the table and shared their opening experiences and showed renovation pictures. Let me tell you, there hard work and efforts were paid off!!! Not only does the place look amazing, the furniture is incredibly comfortable as well as modern and trendy. The food. All I can say is WOW!!! Everything was spot on. We started with the seafood tower, absolute perfection to say the least. We t ordered the brute sparkling and it worked with every dish. Second course was the scallops that were spot on. For the main we had the Japanese Wagyu A5, and Australian Wagyu, no the Cooked to perfection. What an amazing experience being able to compare the 2 Wagyu products. Sides with the Wagyu were well planned and perfect. Through our discussions we chatted about my years in the industry. We were invited into the kitchen for a tour. Exactly what I expected clean and well run. Impeccable. Great to see such a harmonious team who provide a world class experience. Nice to see there are still people like them. Chefs talent is second to none, I have worked as a Chef for over 30 years and it is refreshing to eat food that was prepared with Love and Passion. The menu variety has something that will satisfy anyone looking for a true culinary experience. Thank you to the Conversare team for an experience that will not only be hard to top, but impossible to forget. We will be...
Read moreI went with a group of 9 other people for dinner here last night and none of us would go back. In short, the service was slow, the food was overpriced and nothing special, and the atmosphere did not help build a good experience. We arrived just after 7 and it took over an hour to get our starters and another 40ish minutes to receive our mains. We did not get desserts and we left around 3.5 hours later. The restaurant was quite busy with several large birthday parties. It was also extremely loud and it was tough to hear the server, let alone the person sitting next to you. I ordered the halibut with lobster sauce and chunks of lobster special and after some of our friends got their starters I was told that they had run out of lobster sauce and instead I would get two black tiger shrimp instead. I said fine but when I got my food the halibut was very dry. It really needed a sauce. Instead of the lobster sauce they put a mix of capers and olives with a bit of oil, which really had no flavour. One of the two shrimp was well cooked but the other one was like rubber. The food looked good but was bland. This was an $85 special. They knocked $5 for the lack of lobster but it was still way too much and the food was just dry and bland. My wife got the rack of lamb and she said it was alright but it was not worth the $65 price. She also got the duck fat potatoes but they were not crispy, smothered in sour cream, and flavourless. A friend also got the lamb and his was overcooked so he sent it back. The server never came back to check how the food was or to check on us. For two entrees, 2 alcoholic drinks, and a soft drink the bill was over $280! Would...
