Definitely disappointed! The restaurant however the price vs value and portion was very disappointing! $3.49+ for a cup of coffee even though it's bottomless is outrageous especially when the servers don't come around to refill your cup. Plus how many cups of 4-6 ounce coffee are you going to have to justify the price.
Next the actual breakfast which again I don't want to come off as a complainer but it was just ok considering the price; it was again disappointing but not terrible. Eggs Benedict classic I think it was called; first off was cold which means it was done before the person I was eating with breakfast was ready and sitting under heat lamps. Eggs were over cooked a lot so actually hard, English muffins were mushy, not toasted or even grilled, hollandaise sauce was tasteless and again as I mentioned it was cold. The shredded hash browns portion was very small, tasteless and cold as well. I was very disappointed and I generally easily am full.
On to the skillet; it was again ok, very average, portions surprisingly small: overpriced considering what you get compared to several other breakfast places in Hamilton.
Service; we assumed the server was new considering what we got which breakfast is not that difficult especially when it's not during a rush/much slower. We had to ask for coffee twice and still were told ok yes but not given any even when filling coffee for the table behind us. Server didn't deserve a gratuity in my opinion however we still gave one. Barely any smiles, didn't seem like she wanted to be there never mind taking our order; everything was forced.
My husband wanted to complain about the breakfast mainly especially because we have both worked in the industry however we decided not to in case there were new staff. After we asked as we were leaving we discovered the staff/cooks that day were not new.
Again personal opinion but we will not return because the overall experience was a complete let down for first time customers. There are several other restaurants in this city that have much tastier food and better portions for the same price or lower.
Cleanliness overall was ok but poor considering customers are more concerned with viruses still. Tables were cleared slowly, never really saw anyone wiping down tables or seats, had to flick food off my bench where we were seated. Washrooms were basically clean as long as you are a person not picky and don't mind dust/dirt crusted on door handles/bathroom...
Read moreMy family has been going to this Denny's for almost two years now and we've always had a great experience. We specifically enjoyed our summer months dinning there to the point that we went up to 3 times a month. We haven't dined there for a while and just had dinner there recently on March 23rd. What a disappointment!
I came with my wife, 2 year old son, 10 year old daughter and my 7 year old son. We were seated at a booth which was fine but had to ask for a highchair for my youngest. I ordered meals for all of us while noticing that when we came in there were a few dirty uncleared tables, yet there weren't many guests in the entire dining room. The table near us remained uncleared our entire visit and the server brought out all of our meals but my 7 year old son's. The server had notified us that "her" meal would be out in just a minute and I believed that he would be directly back with the plate, but we waited about 10 minutes before he arrived with said plate. My son was also clearly biologically a boy, wearing boys clothes. It was kind of bizarre, because it's not like he's a Transgender case and I understand that is another issue in Canada today. Food quality was also under par than what we we used to pur previous visits.
The server did give a single "sorry" but I felt that an offering of a free item/s or at least a discount should have been offered. I had once worked in the restaurant industry for 16 years and it was an unwritten rule that you treat children exceptionally better than your adult guests. Especially in a restaurant considered to be a family friendly environment. It's supposed to be practice, that you NEVER assume a child under 4 would eat in their stroller or be seated in a chair without a booster seat. You should always ask your guests attending with their children, how you can accommodate a child's needs as a gesture of compassion.
This incident caused me not to tip for the first time in many years. I didn't voice my dissapoint during billing because I was that angry and I didn't want to argue with the server. However, this incident left a bad taste in my mouth an I finally mustard up the motivation (days later) to write this review without being too aggressive. My family will not be attending this location ever again....sadly, this Denny's was pur favorite for almost 2 years.
Good luck with the current...
