Eggstatic Hamilton — Restaurant in Hamilton

I had a reservation for 2:30 pm for a small celebration with my partner. Unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I have ever had.

Despite having a reservation, we waited 15 minutes before being greeted, and it was difficult to get our server’s attention throughout the visit. We ordered appetizers and mains together to make things easier. Our appetizer arrived after about 30 minutes, which was fine considering how busy it was. However, our main courses never came. We waited an additional 1.5 hours, being told several times that our food was “next out,” while watching multiple other tables, including a large party seated after us, receive their meals within a reasonable time.

During this wait, someone I assume was the manager offered us free pancakes and drinks, but what we wanted was simply the food we had ordered. By 4:00 pm we had lost our appetites and just wanted to settle the bill. We asked for the check three times before one of our two mains finally arrived. By that point we were ready to leave and declined the food, but the server made a remark along the lines of “I hope you eat something else good, they worked hard on this,” which felt dismissive and unprofessional.

We were then pressured into having the meals packed to go, but after another ten minutes of waiting with nothing brought out, we left.

I understand unexpected issues can happen, and we were told the head chef had called in, but that does not excuse the lack of communication, the repeated false assurances, the pressure from staff, and the poor handling of the situation overall. If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. The service from start to end was excellent. You wouldn’t think it was opening day! Our server, Sara, was just lovely and so polite and courteous, and was always quick to answer to our requests. It was my wedding anniversary, and to make our day extra special, she even offered us.a delicious lava cakes topped with vanilla ice cream. So kind! The decor in the restaurant is bright and airy, and does not feel cramped like the other locations I’ve been to. I ordered the Steak and Eggs, and everything was cooked to perfection, and the gravy was neither thick, nor thin, and was the perfect consistency. My husband have the pulled beef Benny’s and my kids has the pancakes and eggs with toast from the kids meals. Honestly, they nailed a really great chef at this location, because even my kids who are picky eaters emptied their plates! Our drinks were so refreshing and their latte’s actually tasted like real European coffee.

We even spoke to the owners who were a really lovely couple, and you can tell that opening this franchise really was a passion project for them.you could see it in all the little details in the decor that I have not yet seen at other locations. I really do wish them a lot of success. If they keep things going like this, it will the talk of the town in terms of brunch spots for sure.

Went to eggstatic as a family (7 adults), we reserved a table as we were a large group so did not wait very long to be seated. Severely underwhelming and disappointed. I will start with the good, our server Ruby while not able to speak for the kitchen, tried her best to keep up happy and was very pleasant to have around while we were dining.

On to why the 1 star review. My family and I visited Eggstatic on a Sunday, and to their credit it was a busy Sunday. All was well until we placed our orders. My go to order for brunch is Salmon Benedict. First 30 minutes go by, then 45, then 1 hour, finally after 80 minutes of waiting, we received our food. During this process our server came over to the table multiple times and told us she has no idea what is going on and why it is taking so long. We had also asked for our order to be cancelled as there was no indication to when it was coming, and we were growing impatient. As soon as we cancelled the order, coincidently I food came out.

The food across the board was disappointing to say the least. My salmon benedict was off to the poor start. The English muffin was rock hard, not because it was toasted. It was very dated and stale. The salmon portion was a single very thin layer hidden under my well poached eggs (I ordered soft). The other orders for our table were more of the same. The best thing was actually the pita bread and hummus.
