The star is strictly for the food itself, the woman who runs this place now is terrible, and the sanitation is subpar to say the least. No gloves when handing food, touching handles, doorframes and money before stocking their meats. But the thing that ensured I’d never come again was my experience back after 5 years. I came in ordered three subs and while the daughter was making my subs I received a phone call, normally I wouldn't answer BUT it was important, I picked up to sort out funeral arrangements/ gifts with my mom, while I was talking I watched this curly red headed woman MOCK me speaking and glance at a picture behind her- how could I have forgotten about this obnoxious sign? ā€œIf you are on the phone we will ignore you as if you dont existā€ I mean? I get it if they were speaking with me I would have never answered, but I sat there awkwardly waiting while the girl rolled her eyes and gave me attitude every time I said something to her anyway. When I lived in the area and the guy ran it I used to enjoy coming here, these people who work the front now are the type of people who live to make people feel lesser than- you feel like being spoken to in a condescending tone? You want dirty bare hands touching your food? You want someone mimicking you as you speak about a deceased family member? This is the place for you people. Also no tap cards...

As the website isn't working I have to leave my review here... I've been coming to Mike's Subs for as long as I can remember 20+ years... Tonight we had the worst customer service experience leaving us shocked at what happened and had a very awkward and tense interaction. My sister and I came into the shop at just after 5pm this evening; there were no other customers and the two staff were chatting. I greeted them and asked how they were. They both looked at us then turned back to each other and continued talking without greeting or acknowledging us. At this point I looked at and gave my sister a look like "is this for real"? The lady working must have seen the look I gave and told the other guy to take our order. She proceeded to go out back and started banging things around sounding like she kicked an empty bucket and was slamming the hotel pans around. This young lady really needs a speaking to about customer service. As someone who is always mindful of service staff and I try to make our interaction as pleasant as possible and ask how their day is going and to get that kind of treatment all because this worker was upset that I showed the shock on my face was really upsetting as I've never had an issue with this location in all the years coming here for our favorite subs. Very...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a local family-owned sub shop in Hamilton, Ontario, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience. I ordered the mixed sub, and it was nothing short of spectacular.

The sandwich was beautifully crafted, with every ingredient perfectly balanced to create a harmonious blend of flavors. The bread was fresh and had the perfect amount of crispness, while the meats and vegetables were of the highest quality. Each bite was a delightful explosion of taste, making it one of the most beautiful sandwiches to ever grace my tongue.

The shop itself had a warm and welcoming atmosphere, reflecting the care and pride the family puts into their business. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the overall experience even more enjoyable.

I would highly recommend this sub shop to anyone in the Hamilton area looking for a delicious and satisfying meal. This place is a true gem, and I can’t wait to return for another...

Went here for lunch and got two subs. Bread was okay but the toppings that they use for the subs were low grade. I guess if you factor in how cheap the subs are then it's a good deal, but even then it tastes pretty bad in comparison to other places you can go to with higher quality ingredients for a little bit more. This brings me to my locks point which is their false advertisement. They have a deal that says a can of pop is included. When you go to get your pop they say that some are premium pops and cost a dollar more but they don't actually list that anywhere in their advertisement or signs. Do you end up getting a subpar sub, plus they try to scam you. Hence the one star.

Messiest sub I've ever had. Should be served in a bowl with a fork and knife. Half of it ended up in my lap. The meat they use is cheap and low quality. Staff at this particular location all seem to have the same attitude problem, as if you're inconveniencing them when you order a sub. They like to slap the sub together as fast as they can with no regard for quality even if you're the only person in the store. Also not a fan of being charged extra for pickles. It's a pretty standard topping. But this place insists on giving you a whole pickle on the sub (way too much) and they cut it way too thick. Like a full cm per slice.

Mike’s Ottawa Street has the best subs on the planet bar none! Reminds me of the subs I used to get at independent sub shops back in the 1980’s when I was a teenager. The sub buns, meats, and toppings are always fresh. Love the old style shredded lettuce and onions as well. The Torpedo subs and Ham subs are always on the mark. Whenever I’m at a Brother’s place who lives close by in the Hammer it’s tradition to walk over to Mike’s and grab a few subs as we know we’ll never be disappointed. Shout out to Devon, always an awesome sub pal. A great sandwich every time! Thanks guys!
