This place is a coffee shop that finally seems like it understands Hamilton. There have been so many hipster cafes popping up in downtown, and while I am someone who loves them, especially compared to vacant units, I can understand why some may feel like they are foreign or fake for Hamilton.
This place on the other hand, feels like it understands Hamilton. It brings some class that Hamilton has been lacking, but in a Hamilton way. This place understands the art scene, and hopefully realizes that places just like it are pushing out cheap rents for art galleries and the exact art scene that makes Hamilton so great. This place makes up for it by hosting art in their backroom, and provides a cozy atmosphere while doing so.
The food can be a bit pricey, however it is definitely quite good. Pairing coffee with a sandwich can cost around $8-$13, but for a light lunch it's not too bad. If you want all-day, greasy breakfast head to some other place down the street, there is plenty of those around.
The atmosphere is also not overdone. I am one for fancy or over the top decor, I am sorry, but Toronto just boasts so many cool and eclectic bars, restaurants and cafes. I can't hate them with all their little details. This place feels real though. It hasn't been here 5 years, and it feels like it knows that.
I am also glad it is bringing some foot traffic to the side of Gore that unfortunately is looking a bit rough these days despite the recent growth and interest downtown.
I hope this place sticks around for the future, and hint, you could probably also rent out that back space for small bands or something too. Would be something cool to do once in a while.

Read moreIâve ordered from this cafĂ© over 15 times on Uber Eats and occasionally stop by in person. Parking isnât the best, which is why I usually prefer takeout. Iâve been coming here for over a year now, and let me tell youâthey know how to pair flavors! Their sandwiches are incredible. The texture and ratio are always perfect. While it might be on the pricier side, Iâd much rather spend a few extra dollars here for high-quality ingredients than settle for a generic food chain.
I try a different sandwich almost every time, and they never disappoint. I always love pairing it with the matcha chia seed pudding. If youâre sensitive to texture, it might not be for you, but otherwise, itâs a fantastic snack. Itâs filling, has just the right amount of sweetness, and offers great health benefits.
The staff are also incredibly kind. Sometimes, they even write cute messages on my lattes, as well as on my co-workerâs hot drinks and sandwiches.
Recommended food: Breakfast sandwich, ham and Swiss croissant, soups, and their seasonal turkey Thanksgiving sandwich. Drinks: Matcha latte with coconut milk, hot chocolate with coconut milk, and green...
Read moreI discovered this CafĂ© on Instagram and waited about 3 weeks to visit. I was super excited for my first visit. Im in love with latte art and I asked the cashier if all the lattes come with a design on top; they told me yes. I proceeded to order the chai latte and when it was served to me it did not have any latte art. I brought this issue up to the cashier and her response was "ohhhh đ I thought they did art on all of them " . I feel like I did not get what I paid for. I also feel like in this specefic situation they should have offered me a latte they do art on because that is what I asked for and paid for and I did not receive. The food had great presentation and the art gallery is a really neat touch đđŸ I also love the music. The lack of concern and attentiveness to address my issue was a turn off , not sure if I would return here and I'm extremely disappointed in a country that prides themselves on customer service. Food is expensive and I should get what I paid for. Not to mention I traveled all the way from Mississauga to...
