I like to give positive reviews, but in this case, I am simply unable to do so. I can't remember a Subway experience like this one.
First, the sandwich artists were incredibly slow, which is not in itself an indictment. I can usually look past that. But I ordered two different subs: a pizza sub, and a chicken teriyaki. In both cases, the subs were prepared in a fashion that made me question the employee if he had ever made one before. He assured me he had. The pizza sub was going ok, just very slow. We eventually got the pepperoni, the white cheese I requested, and then the mari-wait.. No, no marinara. I had to ask for that. I'm not sure when pizza subs stopped having marinara sauce by default, but ok. After obliging, we finished with the pizza sub. We were really moving along now.
Then the teriyaki. Oh I've seen this one before. Take the chicken out in the little scoop, put it in the little cardboard container, heat it, then put it on the bread. Except, no. That's not what happened. The cold chicken came straight out of the big metal tray right on to my Italian herb and cheese in all its glory. After some back and forth in which the two gentlemen assured me that's how they do it there, I asked for them to microwave the whole sub so at least I could get some hot chicken. They did so, and the rest of the process went pretty smooth. They were out of lettuce in the one bin, but I guess that's why there's two. I had no problem filling out the rest of the order.
Checkout was fine, no issues there. That's why they get the 2* from me. The rest of the experience was more inconvenient than anything else which nets them one more I suppose.
Who knows. Maybe I've just been spoiled and every other Subway I have ever been to has just intuitively done things the way I expected in my head. Maybe these gentlemen were right and their way was the standard, and everyone else was wrong all this...
Read moreAs I see others have commented about this; this Subway is now awful! I have been coming here for some time but it seems there are new owners?
The staff is miserable. That being said I came for food not for conversation.
Unfortunately the food was also terrible. First of all, the prep table was a mess and so dirty (mind you, I was the only one in the store if they were busy that would have been understandable) many of the vegetables were mixed (ie onions all over the tomatoes)which I think poses a allergy concern. I ordered a small, veggie sub and the amount of vegetables he put on my sub was embarrassing. Literally a sprinkle of lettuce and when I asked for a bit more spinach he literally put two leafs on, and looked at my like I was asking him to sign over his first born child.
I'm paying 7.00 for half of a vegetable filled sub I would like it to still be somewhat filled. The sub buns were still touching when he wrapped then sub up it was so under filled. I have never had this experience at subway.
Needless to say I will never come back to this Subway again I would recommend others stear clear of it as well.
Hopefully someone from head office will take a peek at all of these negative reviews and do something about...
Read moreThis is my favourite subway in hamilton. It's clean, the veggies always look/taste good, they'll avoid giving u green tomatoes if u ask and the portion sizes are always fair to excellent and it seems like even the teenagers working there care and I met the owner the other day, she seems nice. Pita pit used to be my favourite but they changed the shape of the rice bowls so u can't cram as much in lol. "They're the same volume" but they're much more narrow now. The subway by gore park is stingy with the veggies, if you're in gore park burrito boys is where it's at.
All this praise said, it's still a subway, hence 4 stars.
I typically get the BLT with every one of the vegetables except lettuce with garlic aoili and hot sauce. I strongly recommend the garlic aoili.
I've had the crispy chicken sidekick, the little bun doesn't hold much toppings. If u want that, I'd say spend the extra couple bucks and get the six inch sub instead. 2x the chicken and the sub bun will hold everything together.
Tuna is also good, they don't over load it with mayo like some other...
