First off, we were highly skeptical about this restaurant. We have passed it many times, as we live nearby, and always shrugged it off as being a little sketchy. When we were looking for a place to get some sushi recently, I check the reviews to see what others had thought. It was almost all 5 star reviews. My girlfriend and I went in for a dinner and all I can same is: WOW! This place is phenomenal. Fantastic fresh sushi. Affordable prices. Amazing other dishes for those who aren't sushi lovers like myself. We were blown away by the quality of not only the food, but also the interior and general experience. Our favourite part of the meal was trying the made in house Chap Chae, a new experience for both of us. We couldn't stop raving about the meal to each other for hours afterwards. We will definitely be returning for future meals.

Phone was answered quickly by a friendly person, for a phone in order.
Order was taken accurately, suggestions on unique or must try items were provided, total was provided right away, perfectly reasonable 30min pick up time provided on a good sized dinner time order.

But the best part, the food is excellent.
Tempura was crisp and not mushy inside. All the sushi, maki and sashimi was great. Lots of wasabi and ginger provided as requested. Miso was okay, but I'm not much of a soup person. Spicy Bulgogi had the right amount of heat and a great flavour. Salmon had a nice BBQ smoke taste.

Sushi Ya is a Japenese/Korean Sushi stop that offers good variety in its menu, while not falling short on the main staple: high quality sushi. While not an "expert" in raw fish dining, I have enjoyed Sushi in some incredibly authentic locations, and unfortunately some less than passable. Sushi Ya is certainly the former, as the Sashimi, Sushi, Nigiri and soups were all strong evidence of.
On top of great food, the interior is tastefully decorated, impeccably clean, and the prices are moderate compared to other a la Carte sushi restaurants.
Great service. Delicious food. Warm atmosphere.
I look forward to many...
