The manager here was so RUDE and unprofessional I was surprised. We came in days after our wedding (having spent $800 plus on beer in last 6 months ) with the receipt, beer bought that week and beer was still in boxes. we had 4 cases to return and we were treated horribly and given every excuse not to take them back.
First he tried to say that we needed a different receipt "what is this "? he said . Until another employee pointed out it was the correct one "this is the one we always give out". So I felt like he was just playing dumb hoping that we would just leave .
Then he started interrogating us on why we were returning beer. We explain we bought this beer as extra, a few days before our wedding and we did not use/need/touch it. Finally he accepted he would have to return them and stared the return process but not with out giving us a angry toned LECTURE the entire time telling us : that if we do "this again" that the one of the boxes was damaged and he wouldn't return it again. We explained we had a wedding and obviously it was a one time thing but he just wanted to vent to us. Then he stared complaining to us about having to right things off and the return process and that we were costing him money .
All in all I just felt that we had annoyed him and possibly thrown off his "quota" for the day, and that even though we had bought it that week and had a receipt, that somehow we were doing something wrong. I can understand that people don't love all aspects of their job but the customer service was just awful ! To the point that I asked him if he was the manager bc i knew no regular staff would ever speak with that tone and confrontation to a customer and expect to keep their job. Bottom line this guy was a big jerk.
Side note the employee that ended up finishing the process was polite and she did leave us with a pleasant taste after the negative one.
We will be buying beer for my sister wedding at liquor store and they returned a closed bottle with receipt with...

the beer store @ center mall (TBSCM) is a small, in-and-out arrangement. comes with no drive-thru.
hours are standard as with other leading locations. (meaning they are open to the max they are allowed to be.)
parking is plentiful, however if TBSCM and neighboring walmart are both busy at once, your walking distance might be a bit longer than expected.
i retired from the beer game in 2018 for health reasons, so i only use this location as a return center for my empties, and then i move on to the lcbo close by.
the reason i'm giving this location a 4 is because the staff here overall are polite, if not friendly, and do try to make for a pleasant shopping experience. this is an area with a lot of socially unrefined characters as customers, and i can appreciate it's not easy to deal with the public.
relative to how busy this postage stamp-sized place gets, the staff are pretty conscientious as to when they need to keep the chit-chat down and keep the line moving.
texas-sized shout-out to ryan r., the store manager (currently as of jan 2025). really appreciate his hard work. he used to run the TBS location at barton/mary, and did a great job cleaning that place up. both with fixing staff and with how customers are supposed to behave. ryan is def a valuable asset to TBS. ⭐
may 11,2025: shout-out to store worker carter for providing a warm and welcoming environment. the center mall location continues to provide polite and friendly staff which makes for a positive visiting experience. 👏
bottom line: i would use the TBSCM location if i am in the area for returns. i would recommend this location to others for their beer buying/empty...

Not without reason, this location is littered with bums, prostitutes, and drug addicts throughout the day. You'll see people come in with more empties than you've ever seen and then leave their trash on the floor and not in the conveniently placed garbage cans. The only reason I give it a 2/5 rather than a 1 or 0 is that you do genuinely see staff cleaning up all the time. It just seems they can't ever really keep up.
Staff (3/5): This store is crazy busy. One of the busiest I've seen in Hamilton. You will however see staff members literally running from the back to the front delivering beer orders to people in line to catch up with the line. They can be a bit snappy at times, no doubt due to the clientele. Though in general I've had great experiences with the service staff and have generally been quite professional. *They seem to have underwent a change of management over the holidays and not only is the new store manager incredibly rude, but the store is terribly understaffed at times.
Atmosphere (1/5): In general, it's a gross store. Mainly because of the clientele. In general it is mostly blue collar factory workers after shifts who are loud and crude. But they're not hurting anyone. You will however be held up by bums who come in with stolen garbage bins spend an hour at a time "sorting" empties. Drug addicts creepily spying around. Then idiots who decide to hold up the line by paying in dimes and nickels found outside.
Overall: The employees here are nice and seem to work hard. But there's never a point in going here because the line is crazy. If it didn't stink in this store maybe standing in line...
