Nestled at the base of One Water Tower on Sunset Drive, the new fine dining restaurant, Erica Jane, offers an elegant ambiance and an upscale dining experience. The décor is sleek and modern, white tablecloth settings with high ceilings and warm lighting.
The menu at features a variety of steak and seafood. One item that popped off the menu was the Mayazaki A5 Wagyu. Probably the only restaurant in the area that serves real A5 Wagyu. The main reason we visited was to try the Beef Tartare. My wife loves it, so whenever we see a new place offering it, we have to go try it out. The food is beautifully presented and of excellent quality, with fresh ingredients that are expertly prepared. I also ordered a Hokkaido Scallop and shared a BC striploin. I prefer a corn finished steak but this grass fed strip was excellent. Perfectly grilled medium-rare with a good crust. Seasoning was nice and subtle and really made the beef shine.
The service at Erica Jane was exceptional. Our hostess and servers were friendly and attentive. The service was efficient, and did not feel rushed, and we appreciated the attention to detail and special touches, such as the complimentary amuse-bouche. The server did ask about any dietary restrictions and my wife mentioned no seafood. The amuse did have seafood, so I gladly got to enjoy my wife's portion.
While Erica Jane is definitely on the higher end of the price spectrum, some value is certainly there. Not food related but they have really nice private washrooms with fully automatic toilets, heated seats, massage bidet, dryer and the works! Probably has Bluetooth too 😅. I think they're from Kohler and are around 10k. Anyways, the portions are small, but the quality of the ingredients and the overall dining experience make up for it. The steak is served a la carte so if you want to make it a meal the bill may go from mild to wild real quick. If you've never tried Mayazaki A5 Wagyu I would say splurge a bit and give it a go. I'm not sure of the BMS score but the server did mention it was a striploin. If you're a fan of A5 Wagyu like myself I would rather enjoy a larger portion at home in my sweats. The market price of the A5 Wagyu was just way more than what I'm use to. The ambience, service, convenience, prep/clean may be worth it to try sometime during the late happy hour.
Overall, we had a fantastic dining experience at Erica Jane. Not a perfect 5/5 but not a solid 4/5 like I rated either, that's just how Google's rating system is. I would put this place up around 4.20 to 4.69 stars. The food, service, and ambiance were all top-notch, and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a new dining experience. I really hope the service and dining experience are just as good when I come back to further...

My partner and I went to Erica Jane for our anniversary for the first time on Monday and were both quite underwhelmed with our experience (in multiple aspects). I'll touch on each below:
Food: We ordered an appetizer, 2 mains and a dessert. The appy was decent (croquettes), however the lamb was on the small side and not very flavourful, and the duck my partner had was chewy. We're not overly picky eaters, and expected more from the price point and fine dining experience that was expected.
Service: We went on a Monday, so it wasn't very busy. It was sub-par service especially considering this. To start, the amuse-bouche was brought out halfway through our appetizer (we weren't too upset about this, but added to the sequence of events following). When our food came they dropped off the wrong dish to my partner, and had to remake everything. We were celebrating and had a bottle of wine, so a slight inconvenience, but still had to wait a fair amount to get both dishes brought again. We finished our meals and had a dessert. I usually don't check the bill when it comes out, but something didn't seem right as it was over $300. I glanced at it and they had charged for 2 app's when we only had one, so I sent it back. They came back and I decided to read over it again, and they had charged us for 3 mains! They charged us for the wrong dish they brought out, so sent the bill back the 2nd time. Now, I don't usually expect anything taken off a bill, but for the number of mistakes, maybe the dessert would have been a nice gesture? It didn't stop there though. On our way out, a server came up to us and gave my partner a to-go container and she thought maybe they were gifting her a dessert for the number of mix-ups... it was someone else's food. They then brought out another to-go container, and again--not our food (in fact we didn't have any to-go containers)! The one positive note was a great bottle of wine recommendation.
Little extras: I had put a special note for our reservation that it was our anniversary. Again, not expecting much here but the only thing that came of this was the hostess saying "Happy Anniversary" and nothing further.
Atmosphere: This was the highlight of the experience. Nice decor, clean, and great use of natural light.
Overall, I don't think we'd come back here. We were let down quite a bit after hearing the hype of this new restaurant. The value wasn't there for the price we paid for food and the overall service, and it didn't make for much of a...

So much to say... Firstly we arrived an hour early for our reservation at 7:45pm and were seated immediately. Table was pleasantly set but was a little wide so it felt like my partner was far away haha.
For drinks we ordered a 'Creamsicle' and some sort of mocktail Manhattan, both nonalcoholic. Her Creamsicle was exactly what you expect, very sweet and creamy; quite nice. Mine was also to be expected, the bitters added definitely added to the experience and it was pretty good but you get the same large ice cube in the center as you would with a normal Manhattan so you don't get much drink.
We shared a starter of a beet burrata. It was... okay. The 'crackers' were similar to a roll of Matzah if you know what that is. Beets were slightly under cooked and crunchy (not sure if that's on purpose or not). And a side of arugula with a lemon vinaigrette (which was also in 3 of our dishes). Not crazy for it but we ate it.
We were also brought 2 cups of a complimentary cheese soup the chef has made for the day. This was REALLY good, super tasty! Unfortunately this was not on the menu so I don't believe you could order more:(
After our waitress took the plate away we had to wait quite a while for our mains to arrive despite it being quite empty in there... I mean no more than 4 tables filled in the whole place.
For mains my partner had steak frites cooked rare and I had pan seared duck. Both were not great. Portion wise they were good, but lacked depth and flavor. Her steak was overdone to medium and my vegetables (broccolini) were undercooked and cold. Duck was spongy and also lacked seasoning. The French fries on the side of the steak were surprisingly good with crunch and tasty seasoning.
We brought this up to our lovely waitress Brenna who was absolutely phenomenal! She suggested we look through the menu to find another meal to try.
We settled on a seafood pasta and a burger. Both were much better but not quite perfect. We were also given a choice of dessert free of charge and chose a black forest cake which was nice but small and not worth 14 dollars if you had to buy it.
Overall our waitress Brenna made this visit so so much better and we thank her greatly for it. Our food looked not quite like the other reviews so I assume we had a 'dud' or maybe the chef was having an off day. I'd give it one more try but not sure if I'd go...
