The Laurel Packinghouse — Attraction in Kelowna

The Laurel is such a beautiful venue space in Kelowna and brings with it such a welcoming, warm energy to any event. I helped organize a 2-day climate-change themed conference there and we consistently heard over and over again how happy attendees were to work and collaborate in a space that was not a traditional conference center. It added so much positive energy to the event just by being in the historical magnificence of the Laurel.

The Laurel staff were a dream team: Shelley, Jillian, and Ryan all provided the help and guidance I needed to pull of what ended up being a fairly complex event, and they did so with ease, hilarity, and professionalism. Shelley was so kind, and endlessly patient with me as I worked to liaise with her and my client on their needs. Her communication was efficient and timely, and she met and exceeded all of my expectations. The event went off without a hitch thanks to her thorough attention to detail. Jillian and Ryan were instrumental in keeping things flowing during the actual event and without them, I would have been a complete basket-case. They were friendly, funny, and lovely people to work with, accommodating our various needs with kindness and patience. We set up a viewing with Ally from the Laurel packing house, and after poor email communication we finally got a date to view the place, and have never experienced such rude customer service! She barely showed us around and acted as if we should be begging her to use the venue. Every question we ask was met with a response of: “read the contract” she had not sent us any contract. So we spent 20 minutes asking questions, and were refused answers to almost every single one of them. This venue was incredibly over priced for the zero services and features provided, a ton of up charges, and the worst staff out of the twelve venues we viewed.

She stated that “We are not here to help you on the day of, we are here to make sure you follow the contract.” She refused to offer more than one parking spot in their empty parking lot during the event and threatened to have any other vehicles on premises towed. She did not have one piece of valid or current information available, and insisted she “ was too busy to email us, and we should email her if we wanted current information"

4 of us were at the Candlelight Coldplay Concert held at Laurel Packinghouse last night. The setting is awesome - incredibly beautiful old structure built of big solid beams, solid fir rafters & original exposed brick. Very cool setting. I love Coldplay - we saw them in Vancouver last Sept - and the 4 piece stringed quartet was very good. It was tough not to sing along!
