Had dinner here yesterday with my friend and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. You can opt into sitting in your own little rooms where you take your shoes off before sitting very Japanese traditional. So great when you just want to have a one to one conversation with your friend. But also just a really nice experience. I was craving Ramen and so I ordered the beef Ramen noodle soup. I quite enjoyed it but maybe next time I’ll get it a little bit spicier, for Ramen standards. However it is perfect if you have a no spicy tolerance. We also got the spicy chicken karage which was good. Service was okay, a bit harder to call on waitresses when you’re in the rooms. My only problem was my beverage was watered down. I ordered a ginger ale, but you could hardly taste the ginger flavour and tasted more just like a soda water. One thing to also note is that prices on the online menu have gone up compared to the in-store menu. Overall would definitely go again with more friends.

Friendly folks work here at this lovely place with a comforting and laid back atmosphere. I like the little raised booths with cushions that nod to Japanese design while still suiting a Canadian audience. I was pleasantly surprised by the spicy salmon nigiri. Most places just do basic salmon with some spicy sauce but this place puts its own spin on it with chopped salmon with sauce and green onion on top of the rice. The tonkatsu ramen had a homey feel, a simple delight. Its tough to describe but the broth seemed hearty and healthy, like it steeped various vegetables over a long while. The pork had a beautifully caramelized surface. I can’t say much about the noodles but the whole dish was exactly what i needed to feel at home while away from home. Thank you O-Zeki! I hope I can try more in the future.

Stepping into O-Zeki feels like being briefly transported to Japan. The traditional decor, soft lighting, and attention to detail—like semi-private seating areas—create an atmosphere that’s both authentic and peaceful. One of the nicest touches is the seating: you get the traditional Japanese-style setup, but with space under the table so you can sit comfortably Western-style if you prefer. The menu is reasonably priced and offers a great variety, including vegan options. Whether you're craving sushi, noodles, or a comforting bowl of donburi, there's something for everyone. It's the perfect spot to escape the daily routine, slow down, and enjoy a truly satisfying meal and drink in a cozy, welcoming space.

Worst customer service experience in Canada and that by their manager well that’s what the women called herself! Entered the restaurant with my mother her last day in the city wanted her to have authentic Japanese experience since I have been to this restaurant many times and have had awesome food and experience and told my mother about how good the place was. We entered the restaurant the manager women is like how many people we said 3 she took us to a booth. We went there and didn’t want to sit in the booth as with 3 people it would be congested. At this point I walk toward the corner to see if we could move somewhere else and the manager yells at me to go to my table which I found very strange and it was rude as I should be able to walk freely anywhere I want if I am not disturbing anyone which I was not as more than half the restaurant was empty, to be polite I didn’t reply back to her in loud tone how she used hers so I went to her and asked if we could move to another table she pointed at a 2 seat table and said I’ll add another chair which is ridiculous to even offer when the whole restaurant has less than half tables taken so she told me go back to my table, not letting me even stand outside the booth was just weird. I started walking towards the other side of the restaurant she started yelling “go to your table please” this was just insane! Me and my mom got out of the booth at this point so she offered another bigger table but there was food on it and the manager told us to sit in the waiting sofa. I started discussing with my mom how we should maybe not sit there as it looked like staff was eating food there as there were cellphones on the table and food still not eaten just to be polite to the staff who was eating she told me again with a loud tone “please go to your waiting chair”. I told her she cannot talk to me in this manner this is rude she started saying how am I being rude? Saying please with an attitude is still rude! Then she started flipping out walking with hand gestures mumbling and telling her staff how I was being rude. She started yelling you are disturbing the guests, and opened the door and said go out we will not serve you! guess what you really need manager courses and extensive training. I feel sorry for your colleagues and owner who lost customers because of this. I told her I will leave a rating and she said “I don’t care about your rating” well this clearly shows how uneducated you are in this industry as taking care of customers is one of the most important aspect of food industry. Well I went to Ume restaurant for sushi and had an awesome experience. You don’t care but your owner lost recurring business and new business and the image of the place because of you that’s why I am clarifying here to people so they know there’s nothing wrong with ozeki but you! Your supervisor needs to give you etiquette training too. Will never go...

The server was super nice and friendly, the same however could not be said about the hostess. She was in her own cute little world dreaming about stuff we’d never know because I can’t read thoughts.

We then got seated to the poverty section of the restaurant which was really reminiscent of how edo period poor people would feel so perfect recreation.

Then we got Takoyaki and a sushi roll combo, once again perfectly reminiscent of edo period poverty food. The takoyaki was all batter and no octopus, giving you the illusion that the word ‘tako’ doesn’t really stand for octopus in Japanese.

Feeling slightly infuriated with how things were going I took a step back and got myself back into feeling hopeful since we still had one more dish to try which could be the saving grace to the day- sushi.

The sushi was a super fat layer of unseasoned rice followed by a perfectly measured piece of fish, coming to exactly 2 grams or under on each roll. Really showcasing the craftsmanship of the line staff that could so accurately measure such low quantities. Feeling super contempt with having experienced the perspective of a edo period poor person we left the establishment with a positive turn in mindset of appreciating the good things in life, since life could always be worse like having to eat that food more than...

Absolute best place to get sushi ever. The food is always fresh and in the dozens of times I've gone, I've never left feeling sick, only full to the absolute brim. The flavors are so vibrant and fill your mouth with unimaginable tastes.

Service is top tier, all the people I've met there are very kind, and very professional. The food is cooked faster than any other restaurant in BC that I've been to. The waiters and waitresses check on you to make sure everything is good with your food and drink, but never feel like they're bugging you.

On the outside, the place may not look like too much, but once you step foot into the building, it's like you stepped into a piece of Japan. Once you step in, you're asked immediately if you'd like a table, or room (yes, there are small rooms you can have for you and your friends to sit in privacy) then are handed the menus to peruse to your liking, and a drink of water for each person. Once ready, they'll come up to you and write everything down that you ordered, and return in about 10 minutes with your food freshly made, and ready.

This place is my number one spot to go to for dates, a nice hangout, or just to eat. I highly recommend this place to any sushi lovers out there. 5/5 for everything. Will continue...
