Howl At The Moon — Restaurant in Kitchener

The only reason this place got 3 stars is the food is good and plentiful and our server was very friendly and attentive. Upon arrive inside there was a sign "wait to be seated" but a waitress told me to sit anywhere...so why did I have to wait? I did try to make reservations but only got answering service and no one followed-up. Upon arrival when I inquired about a reservation I was told no one monitors voicemail...so why even have it??? Make an online booking system or don't advertise you take reservations. As someone who is physically challenged the entrance was not to safety code standards for the ramp. Had there been any ice/slippery conditions or someone with a wider wheelchair the ramp was dangerously sloped and very narrow and had no railings . Once inside only platform booths and high bar tables on lower level...so where would they be able to even accommodate guests with wheelchair? Even anyone with cane or walker would be challenged with seating. High bar seating should be upstairs and tables on main level for better accomodation of all guests and actual diners not bar goers. The volume was quiet loud with all the TVs so everyone was shouting to talk. Not an environment to be able to easily socialize with friends while dining. The atmosphere is dark and dated and really could use a facelift. It hasn't had much done since it was Whiskey Jacks that is an improvement. If you are looking for a tired, loud sports bar atmosphere only and not looking to socialize and connect with friends this is your place. Sorry to say but not a place I would return to even though food...

Came to try the wings ... not bad at all.

We were told that HATM makes some of the best wings in K/W, so we decided to try them last night.

We got our booth quickly, even though the place was failry busy. The hostess apologized that they were short-staffed, but her and the waitress were both very friendly and attentive, and we didn't really notice poor service or delays at any of the tables around us. We heard no complains from any of the other folks occupying tables in our area. The staff here is really good.

We ordered the wings ("honey garlic" for my offspring and "blow your mouth off" for me. The wings came hot, crispy and saucy, just like we like. Mine were actually fairly spicy, so a warning to others, be sure you can handle the burn before you order them.

The only downside to our visit to HATM, was that the wings are somewhat pricey at "7 for $10.99". Other joints around here sell a larger count for the same price or less. I guess it comes down to what your preferences are.

Will we come back? Maybe. There are more and more food options popping up around town, so continually going to the same place gets tedious, but my daughter said she wants to come back another time for their wing special. So I guess we'll be back again at some point.

"the Moon" is definitely a 3 1/2 star place - not quite a 4 in my opinion.

A lot of people avoid "the Moon" because it shares the building with Roxxannes (the sole remaining strip joint in town) :) Guess there's a lot of people that don't want to have their vehicles seen in that parking lot! :) As such, most times than not the Moon isn't crazy busy, so you can almost always get a table (did see once a few weeks back that they had a line out the door - must have been a promotion going on). Any who - the pub food has always been about average for this place. Better than you get at most of the chains though (eg. Kelsey's). But, we tried their wings the other day - specifically the dry cajun. And, I was blown away! Super crispy wings (sorry, if chicken skin isn't crispy, what's the point?!), good job on the seasonings and still moist inside. Quite impressed (and put down a couple pounds of them over several beers). The pricing of the beer in there is pretty good too (as long as you stick to domestics) - otherwise you pay for imports what you pay at most bars - $6.50 and up.

Will definitely be back at the Moon for wings one day soon!!!
