Our family recently embarked on a water park adventure at Bingemans Big Splash, and despite some initial setbacks, it turned out to be a day filled with laughter, excitement, and unforgettable memories.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by an unexpected rain shower, but luckily, we had booked a cabana to make our day more comfortable. However, to our disappointment, the cabana seemed to have been neglected after its previous use. Debris from the previous renter was scattered around, and the cushions were wet. Determined not to let this dampen our spirits, we took matters into our own hands, flipping the cushions and moving them to the side to make the most of our shelter while waiting for the rain to pass.
As the skies cleared, we decided to dive into the wave pool, only to find it filled with dirt and debris despite being among the first to take a plunge. Goggles, hair ties, Band-Aids, and other unwanted items bobbed around, detracting from the otherwise refreshing experience. While the cleanliness was somewhat disappointing, we managed to find joy amidst the waves and made the most of the moment.
The real highlights of Bingemans Big Splash were undoubtedly the water slides. They proved to be an absolute blast, providing us with exhilarating moments of excitement and adrenaline rushes. We couldn't help but let out gleeful screams as we whizzed down the slides, creating cherished memories of shared laughter and joy.
However, one aspect that did hinder our slide-filled adventures was the wait time. The signal system, used to indicate when the slide was clear for the next person, operated at a frustratingly slow pace. This resulted in longer queues and occasionally disrupted the flow of the slide lines. A more efficient system, such as a light system, could significantly improve the overall experience and keep the excitement going.
Midway through the day, the sun decided to grace us with its presence, casting away the clouds and allowing us to bask in its warmth. Despite the earlier disappointments of cleanliness and slow lines, the radiant sun infused our spirits with renewed energy, making the overall atmosphere more enjoyable.
While we hoped to refuel ourselves at the snack bar, it was unfortunate to find that many items on the menu were unavailable. This limited selection left us with fewer choices than we had anticipated, but we managed to find satisfying options to keep us energized throughout the day.
In conclusion, our day at Bingemans Big Splash was a mix of highs and lows. The initial disappointment with the cabana's cleanliness and the condition of the wave pool was unfortunate. However, the thrill of the water slides and the eventual appearance of the sun saved the day, turning it into a truly enjoyable experience. While improvements in cleanliness and queue management would elevate the water park's overall appeal, the sheer fun of the water slides made it a day well worth spending with family and friends. So, if you're prepared to embrace the excitement and accept the occasional imperfections, Bingemans Big Splash promises a day of thrills and splashes you won't...
Read moreWow, this place has everything! Bingemans is not just a waterpark, it has mini golf, beach volleyball, indoor play gym, bowling, arcades, canoeing and campgrounds. As we only visited the waterpark, my review will only be based on what my family experienced.
Bingemans is located in Kitchener and is easily accessible from all directions. The waterpark opens at 10am and we got there at 11am and still got premium parking (like the 4th spot from the entrance). The park does allow for one bottled beverage per person and does not allow outside food, but I still snuck in a few granola bars and bear paws. To get to the waterpark, you enter this huge facility that houses the arcade and indoor play gym. As we only had passes to access the waterpark, the 3-story indoor play gym would be an additional $10.95 per child. The arcade is pay as you go.
For the waterpark, there are only 3 tiers in terms of height restrictions - under 42", 42"-48", over 48". Unfortunately, my daughter was only one inch shy of 48" so the only thing she could do was the carpet slide (you can have up to 4 racers at once), wave pool and the splash and play area. The splash and play had the big tilting bucket that dumps a whole lot of water on you and 3 different set of slides. For a kiddie structure, the slides are quite fast and you do get wet once you hit the bottom. I felt totally comfortable letting my 5&6yo roam free on this structure. The waves in the wave pool was weak, but the walk in design plus the circular pool area made up for it. I didn't go on any of the tube rides but it looked like there's a line at the bottom of the slide where you wait for the next available tube, then carry the tube up the stairs and wait for your turn on the slide. There are plenty of chairs all around the park. We didn't use their showers or change rooms, so I can't comment on that.
My only complaint, and it's a huge one, is that the water was ICE COLD! The temp today was close to 30 degrees Celsius, but the water was frigid. The kids didn't seem to mind when they're playing in the water, but once you get out or was like me, just walking through the water, it was quite cold. Please heat your wave pool!!!
There's so much that Bingemans have to offer and I can totally see my family returning in the near future. I know they have Octoberfest, KinderFest and Scream Park coming up, so...
Read moreDisappointed by Policy Enforcement and Disposal of Personal Property.
I visited Bingemans Big Splash recently with my family, including small children, and had a very disappointing experience at the front gate.
Despite your published policy stating that “one factory-sealed or personal refillable plastic bottle (no glass)” is allowed per guest, we were denied entry with sealed Gatorade bottles.
These bottles were plastic, factory-sealed, and brought for our children’s hydration in the heat. It was the only thing we had to hydrate with.
I was inside the park already and waiting for my wife and kids to come through the check point. My wife told them she didn't have the car key, and was so distraught she left the bottles at the front where when I returned I found staff threw out our sealed beverages in the garbage—a clear overstep and disrespect for personal property. We were then left without access to any drinks we had prepared, which was especially concerning given the warm temperatures and our young children’s needs.
When I asked to speak with a manager, I was given the run-around by kids and finally directed to Andrea Roberts. I have since emailed her for clarification and accountability.
I’m not upset that rules exist—I’m upset that your staff enforced a stricter rule than the one clearly posted on your own website, and destroyed permitted items - factory sealed bottles. Website does not specifically say water bottles.
The disregard for guest property and well-being of children made for a very negative start to what should have been a fun day...
