First visit to the Martinis part of the Charcoal. I also hadn’t been to the Charcoal in over a decade. We had an early dinner on the outdoor patio because the weather was perfect temperature to be outside. It’s a warm and cozy setting. Some traffic noise, but the plants do help filter that out. I forget the server’s name, but she was excellent. Friendly and knowledgeable, but not at all pushy. She helped my partner change some ingredients in her cocktail order, as she wanted to substitute the peach schnapps for something else. I got a Caesar salad for my appetizer. It was better than I hoped. Very fresh with a little radicchio with the romaine. My partner got the beat salad and it was OK. We got an order of the prime rib with mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were actually way better than I expected. Somehow they managed to elevate mashed potatoes. The prime rib, I asked for medium rare, and I think that mine was much more rare. I actually don’t mind it, but it was, almost too rare. Some of the fat hadn’t quite rendered out so it was a little tough to cut. We also got the peppercorn steak and it was a perfect medium rare. The pepper sauce was bright and vibrant, but not so spicy that you couldn’t handle it or that it would overpower the steak. The caramelization on the outside of the steak was exactly what I had hoped for. The house red on the day that we went was excellent and paired very well with all that beef. There is ample parking.

Went to Martinis for dinner. Reservations were easy to make and once arrived brought to table requested. Martinis concept used to be based on numerous martinis to choose from but not so much anymore. We were accommodated with a menu to choose from and martini made perfectly. We ordered escargot and petite wellingtons. The escargot was dry with no juices served with very crisp crostini’s, the petite beef wellingtons tasted great. I ordered another martini the blueberry creamsicle and possibly the worst martini I’ve ever drank. Being 2 for 4 before we ordered dinners each, we choose to share blackened fish tacos served with a side of fry’s and gravy. I would never order the tacos here again as the black bean salsa overpowered the dish. You would have never known the fish was blackened because it was not crisp but rather soggy. The fry’s were the best fry’s I’ve ever ate however the gravy was au jus which was a disappointment. At this point we opted out to stay for dinner paid our hundred dollar bill and choose another restaurant. On the way out I visited the restroom to find the floors were dirty and they were out of paper towel and Kleenex box was empty.

For some reason, we were unable to book through Open Table as it wouldn't come up so we had to phone instead. We sat outside, the vibe was really nice and it was Wednesday! Ordered a cosmo and really enjoyed it. Our server was attentive and very nice and patient. Crab cakes, onion soup as apps. The onion soup was terrific and really loved the flavours. Lobster roll and Vi bowl as mains. The roll was good but my bowl was not great. The blackened chicken was somehow bitter and the veggies in it too. Rice and beans, the rice was mushy didn't enjoy it either. Ordered some white wine and it was very nice! A fly landed in my glass at some point and our server promptly brought me a new one Cuz we were celeb our anniv, they offered a free dessert and that was delicious! Service was top notch, vibe great! Food has some room for improvement but will certainly return and order something different. And yes, we were asked if the food was ok and we were enjoying it several times but didn't want to spend our celeb in any other way than enjoying it Thanks to our server for making it special!!

My husband and I went this past weekend for an anniversary dinner. I'll start off with the good : the atmosphere was great, we sat in the patio and it was very pleasant, we highly enjoyed it! Our server (I don't recall her name) was very pleasant and attentive, zero complaints about her! The bad: we ordered a featured item, I think It was called 'the Flintstone tomahawk steak' 40oz for $184. For this price point we were expecting the most delicious steak we'd ever eaten, but we were extremely disappointed. We ordered the steak medium rare, but when it came out only some parts were clearly medium rare, other sections were very over cooked and one corner even looked burnt! As for the taste.. Well there was none, it was extremely flavorless. We didn't want to send it back because we knew that it would go to the trash and felt bad about wasting it. So we did eat it, but notified our server and she had the manager come and talk to us. We explained the situation and also explained we weren't looking for another steak, just thought they should be aware. He was very kind and ended up offering us desert on the house and took care of the first round of drinks. So we were happy they tried to make ammends for the terrible giant steak. I think our total bill came to about $250 (tip included) Would we go back? Unfortunately not. Although we did enjoy the atmosphere and service, we left sorely dissapponted in the quality of the meat. We could have have eaten wayyyy better meat for half (or even less) the price we paid...

I’m currently sitting in martinis restaurant here in Kitchener. I am in town for a couple of days on business; Dining alone. I’m not sure if it’s because I am in my comfortable clothes (lulu lemon pants and a sweater) but the service I received tonight was rude and offensive. To start my meal I was given a glass of water while Waiting for my Cesar drink I ordered to arrive and French onion soup. I finished the drink WELL before my soup arrived wishing to order another I placed the empty glass at the edge of my table (which is usually an implication that I am done). My soup arrives; glass still sitting there at the edge of the table & my water glass is also empty sitting at the edge. I finish my soup and about 15 more minutes goes by and I ask another waitress (not my own) if I could please have a refill on my water, she fills the glass. About another 10 minutes goes by and I flag down my server asking if I can order something else from the menu as the soup was just a starter. I order something light (chicken tacos) they arrive, and my water glass is empty again she DOES NOT offer to fill my glass 🙄.... I bite into the taco and the chicken was ice cold, not the servers fault this time.. I ask for my bill I place my credit card on the bill, 10 minutes later she arrives with a card machine. I paid for my meal and left no tip as this was unacceptable service! I usually leave equal tip to whatever my bill is if the...
