Hot Philly – Edmonton’s Hidden Gem for Cheesesteak Lovers
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Hot Philly, located at 9604 165 Ave NW in Edmonton, and I must say—it was a delightful surprise. From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us with genuine warmth and hospitality, setting the tone for a great experience.
The menu offers a wide selection, but the standout was undoubtedly the Philly cheesesteak. Perfectly seasoned, loaded with tender meat, and topped with just the right amount of melted cheese, it struck an ideal balance between indulgent and satisfying. This sandwich alone is worth the visit.
We also sampled the poutine, which featured crisp, coated French fries smothered in rich, flavorful gravy. What stood out was the way the gravy was layered throughout, ensuring every bite was saucy and delicious—an uncommon but welcome touch.
Beyond the food, the nostalgic decor adds to the charm. Walls adorned with classic movie posters gave the place a fun, throwback vibe that brought a smile to my face.
Overall, Hot Philly impressed me not only with its food quality but also with the attentiveness of the staff. It’s clear the team takes pride in their work. I look forward to returning and highly recommend it to anyone in the mood for a hearty, well-made meal. Keep up the great work, Hot Philly! I would give this place an 8.5/10 on the...
Read moreI went there at 7:30 Sunday evening. I ordered their signature philly cheesesteak for takeout. I drove home immediately. Upon unwrapping my sandwich, it was a nasty wet mess. The sauce was everywhere leaking all over the place. I was so careful caring it home It seemed none of the meat, onions, mushrooms etc were inside the bun! It was smoothered in brown sauce and i hardly saw any cheese!! It wasn't even cut in half to be manageable to eat! It was extremely messy and disappointing.
I do NOT recommend this place to anyone. sight of product unappealing price is too high for a sub where is the cheese? too much sauce and it soaked the bun too much sauce it leaked all over and dripped from the bag
Subway or Quiznos blows this place away anyday.
UPDATE: the store I ordered from replied to my comment with a LIE. They replied i asked for ALL sauces mixed. I did NO SUCH THING. How sad the management lied on a public comment. Lol. I saw their idiotic reply and called the store to ask why they posted such a false reply to my comment. They couldn't give me an honest answer. Pathetic.
This stores management is bad as their food.

Read moreI don't even understand how this place is open. The food has no flavor at all... I got a cheesesteak original with the garlic sauce... Onions and peppers.
There was very little cheese or any flavor at all which is kind of a miracle , in that, this might be the only restaurant on earth that can't make grilled onions and beef with peppers taste like something flavorful.
So here i am eating a sandwich which is dripping onto it's paper with some sort of juice... There is a very small amount of mustard flavor coming from the rear of the sandwich and nothing from anywhere else... Tip- smear the mustard and whatever other sauces across the whole top of the sub bun... These little attention to detail things matter an awful lot. Anyways, dripping sandwich that actually dries my mouth out... I just don't understand.
Here's a tip to the owner and the other culinary geniuses he hires... Use some salt. I promise it will make a world of difference in your end product. Also... Cook your onions so there is a little carmelization on them... These very subtle things will make your customers have a nice meal, versus the flavorless hot cardboard'esk...
