I was in Lethbridge for a funeral, and was in the mood for some Japanese food. I naturally used my Yelp app to find a Japanese restaurant. I had been to two others that came up, and decided to try something new. If you've ever been to Lethbridge, you'd know that if their were 3 Japanese restaurants downtown they would all be within a few minutes drive. I believe they open at 4:30 P.M. for dinner. It was a Monday when we came, so it wasn't busy at all. I looked around and found only one other table with a couple sitting there. What we ordered: California roll- on par with any other Tamago sushi- The tamago was sliced thicker, and was made in house. (sometimes you can get the stuff that is very generic and brought in) Agedashi Tofu- appetizer (tasty, sprinkled with bonito flakes) Miso soup- also on par Beef teriyaki bowl- rice bowl with stir fried beef and veggies. (not very much beef) Katsudon- rice bowl, with pork cutlets, then steamed with an egg on top. (the breaded pork was tender and tasty) Tea for all. All in all a good experience at this Japanese restaurant. I will definitely come back here, if ever in Lethbridge.
Side note. While dining the restaurant did get busier by the time we finished. Also looks like they do a decent take out business.
Also saw a couple who were just married take a couple wedding pics with a photographer at one of the tables. (maybe it's where they had their first date ?).

Read moreWe gave this sushi place a try today based on the great reviews and good pictures, and honestly I'm not sure where these reviewers were eating?? This is the most expensive and unimpressive sushi we have ever eaten! When I saw a vegetable roll (avo/cucumber) was $7.50 per roll I thought wow this is almost 40% more expensive than any other sushi place on earth so it must be massive and amazing! I got 2, they were the smallest rolls I've ever eaten and contained the smallest sliver of avocado ... it was pure cucumber sticks... I pointed this put to our waiter who smiled and said "oh no" then walked away, I actually laughed it was so brutal haha my husband got the rock n roll and again, so unbelievably small, rice is loose and undercooked on the outside, barely anything inside the roll, no Wasabi or ginger on the plate (asked for extra so it all came on the side as a regular portion that is usually just on the plate?) Anyways I digress - and before you think wow this chick is a complainer, check my other 190+ reviews with over 1 million views combined, as I usually rate experiences 4 or 5 stars with glowing reviews and review fairly. Trust me do not eat small rolls that cost double. We will not ever eat here again. DONO SUSHI is the absolute best in lethbridge based on us now officially trying every sushi place in lethbridge-...
Read moreI am no sushi guru. I've only recently treated it as a staple, but I know enough to know what I like, and I LOVE Lighthouse. I was a little apprehensive because of some poor reviews I found relating to their service and location. I can happily report that I did not share in their dislike.
It looks like they've recently decorated, and the decor is very tasteful and relaxing. I found my chair not overly comfortable however, but it wasn't terrible either. The benches lining the walls were comfortable Our waitress tonight (Chloe) was exceptional. Friendly, but not phoney. Attentive, but not cloying. Helpful, but not pushy. I found her an absolute delight, and our evening only improved from there.
Our orders were taken, and the food arrived VERY quickly. Ingredients were fresh, and I especially enjoyed my order of lighthouse rolls and their unagi (would recommend to anyone). EXTREMELY tasty. The other waitstaff was helpful also, clearing plates when Chloe was otherwise occupied, and we saw some of the chefs coming and mingling / chatting with patrons (I was disappointed they didn't stop at our table ha ha).
I feel I could write for hours, but I urge anyone who is looking for a sushi dinner, do yourself a favor and give Lighthouse a SERIOUS consideration. I would take them over any other Japanese restaurant in...
