Let me start off by saying from the moment we entered the premises, we experienced some of the most amazing service we have received at a restaurant in ages. Everyone working there seemed like they genuinely enjoyed there job and truly strived for customer satisfaction. Shout out to Dominica for serving us! (Sorry if I sabotaged the spelling of your name)
As we were looking through the menu we were given complimentary chips and salsa to start. Chips were seasoned nicely and the salsa had a bit of spice with a homemade freshness you won't find in the grocery store.
Seeing as this was our first time here, me and the three other people I was with all ordered a little bit of everything so we could get a good idea how everything was. To start, we went with the nachos and within minutes the generous portion of these bad boys were polished off. Tons of shredded cheese and queso covered the tortilla chips with a layer of ground beef and jalapenos thrown on top with a side of salsa and sour cream for dip. Absolutely delicious!! 10/10
Shortly after the empty plate of nachos was taken away with were greeted with our main course.. covering the entire surface of the table lay various tacos, burritos, quesadilla.
The highlights for me would have to be the taco's! With the bulgogi steak taco's coming in first place. Tender strips of marinaded steak with pickled carrots and a nice bite from the spicy slaw left me wanting more. The beef, chicken and pork tacos were a close second. All meats were moist and juicy which made the tastebuds scream with pleasure. I would also like to add that at every table they put multiple different hot sauces and a homemade spicy mayo that is a must try! The Quesadilla was filled with yummy cheesy goodness and shredded chicken that paired perfectly with the fresh salsa and homemade guacamole. Yum! The only complaint I have is the size of the burritos were relatively small which thankfully made up for in the taste department.
Overall I'd like to give this restaurant a 9.2 out of 10. I will be back to try out more items very soon! Strongly recommend this place for not only the food but for the atmosphere and the unique interior styling as well as the extensive drink menu.
Side note They also have plans for a roof top patio and bar sometime in the...
Read moreWe had the opportunity to go for an unexpected date lunch recently so we opted to try out Blanco Cantina Lethbridge. (March 27th around 2pm).
Unfortunately 1/2 price nachos is no longer a thing on Wednesday’s but we got them anyway and a set of six classic tacos which were a happy hour special.
Our service was pretty much impeccable and hit just the right blend of attentive but not hovering. refills on our drinks (soda, as it was mid day) we’re plentiful and our waters were kept well supplied. Anything we needed arrived quickly and the waitress gave us exceptional ordering recommendations when we mentioned we were first timers.
We had the chicken tinga nachos with no onions or cilantro, and they were absolutely amazing. We ate every speck of the pile of nachos easily and if we return we’d definitely revisit this choice. Juicy and moist while not being overly wet like some nachos suffer from these nachos hit the mark. Toppings were ample but not overboard. I appreciated that the sour cream and salsa came on the side so we could add as Much or as little as we liked. Even full price they felt like a decent value. These days that’s important. I’d go so far as to say I’m not sure the service could have been any better.
Hubs was pretty hungry so we got an assortment of six mix and match classic tacos which we didn’t end up finishing as it was just too much food even though we hadn’t eaten much this day so we were pretty hungry! We settled on a mix of flour and corn tortillas (all are soft) and then a mix of shrimp, Barbacoa and chicken tacos. We left off onions and added Cotijo and pico on the side - all the go with a come that way so you can add what you want and how you want it. This was perfect for two of us since we were sharing. While all were delicious the shrimp tacos were our favourite. That said I think if we were return we’d probably come back later in the day and have a margarita and the nachos.
Disclaimer: this is a chain however it is a fairly recent addition to the Lethbridge dining scene.
Ps. Ask for extra napkins! You...
Read moreWas really looking forward to trying this new hot restaurant, I have gone twice now so here is my honest review:
The Good: -the atmosphere is a viiiibe, we loved feeling like we could be dining anywhere in the world while we were in here- great colors, interesting art and the music is not crazy loud. In lethbridge every restaurant is Beige, it's bland, it's boring... so this is a breath of fresh air :) -loved the affordable and delicious churro chips for desert, they were $5 and the best part of our meal both times forsure! -loved the virgin mocktails, however we only got 1 each due to the price, if they lowered the cost or increased the size we would have bought 2 or 3 each*
Not So Good: -when I think of Mexican food I think large or unlimited baskets of delicious Taco chips with abundant salsa, large platters with beans, rice, dripping enchiladas and needing to package up half my meal and undo my pants top button to dig into dessert... however I left this restraunt hungryyyy after both visits. Literally went through a drive through on the way home after dinner lol. This was hugely disappointing considering the big price tag on essentially everything except the churro chips -very small portions, not saucey, ooee, gooey dripping delicious and there will be noooo cheese pull from your burrito- all ingredients are extremely sparce.. -very small basket of chips (I counted the second time and there were 9 chips for 2 people) with 1 tbsp of salsa -very expensive for what you get, no left overs will ever come home with you
As the food and commercial real estate leases sky rocket, I do feel bad for restraunts, it's hard to be in business and I understand maximizing your profits by minimizing portions, however adding another cup of rice to a dish, pouring another 3 tbsp of sauce on a burrito and offering a large basket of very cheap chips/salsa would really help customers justify spending money here. Based on the cost of these portions I would not return or recommend to anyone who enjoys a standard...
