Modern Chinese — Restaurant in Lethbridge

The food was excellent we got the meal for 3, the special wonton wor soup, and ginger beef made mild. The food was delicious. There was a pineapple dish and it was AMAZING. Even better than the food is we were seated promptly and it was the FASTEST I have ever been served in a restaurant. The server was a sweetheart, she was very accommodating and immediately bringing out some rice so my 5 year old could find her patience, but it wouldn't have been necessary. They brought the food out right away. The server was great with my 5 year old and super accommodating. 10/10 for service. I have had better fried rice, but everything else was as good or better than anywhere I've been. The soup was great and full of meat and veggies, all without being super salty like most other places. The beef and broccoli was very good, the pineapple, I believe pork, was delightful-so good. The chow mein was good with great flavour and a good mix of veggies. Everytime I get Chinese in Lethbridge, I have high hopes. Of delicious, flavourful, salty saucy food, like I remember from Calgary and California. And every restaurant I try I seem to be more disappointed than the last. While the egg rolls here were good, I had asked the server for "normal" Chow Mein. She said the "Chow Mein" was Lethbridge Chow Mein, a cabbage dish, and should get the Cantonese style. So I did. Instead of the dish you see when you Google "Chow Mein", I got boiled vegetables on dry noodles with a sauce that looks and tastes like water and corn starch. No flavouring whatsoever. I had higher hopes for the Ginger Beef, which said "hot". While the flavour profile was closer to what I expect for Ginger Beef than some other restaurants, I've had mild salsa with more heat than this Ginger Beef. It was more like ginger flavoured sweet and sour sauce than "hot" Ginger. It seems the only place with decent Chinese in this town are New Taste of India and Fusion BBQ, neither of which are Chinese...

Very disappointing. Sliced chicken & satay sauce 🤢 the texture of the chicken was mushy and the flavor of satay sauce is supposed to hot, not flavorless. The other dish ordered was steamed spareribs & blackbean sauce, when ordering it I asked the person that took the order if it contained garlic because it doesn't state that on the menu and I was told yes. Neither my husband or myself could taste any garlic & there wasn't a single black bean in it. We haven't ordered from this restaurant since it had the executive closure order & tonight we thought let's give it another a chance. Huge mistake on our part, what a waste of $50. 3/4 or more of it went in the garbage. I had to eat some soda crackers because it gave me such an upset stomach, the soda crackers didn't help. I had to stop while writing this & run to the bathroom to vomit not once but twice. Not even deserving of 1 star...
