Send noods please! I travelled to Lethbridge for some work purposes and didn't believe that any noodle soups in this city would compare to the bigger ones in Alberta... but I. WAS. WRONG!
Taro Noodle House is quite possibly one of the best noodle shops I've ever had in my life. I couldn't stop going to the restaurant and trying out their entire menu. Everything that they do is just amazing :
The noodles & soup are made to order to maximize the texture and freshness. Soup Flavors were amazing, and the portions that you get are very generous. Meats were very tender. If you're having trouble deciding - I suggest to go with the Dan Dan Ramen to start with- it's the heaviest in flavour and would probably appeal to most people reading this review.
Side orders were amazing. This shop literally has one of the best Char Siu Steamed buns I've ever eaten, and their Deep Fried wontons has an amazing twist - it's filled with an unorthodox but amazingly tastety imitation crab meat & cream cheese filling. I stayed in lethbridge for one month - I balanced all of my meals with their veggie add-ons. Adding a small plate-full of veggies was only 2$, which in my opinion was very worth it.
Last but not least, because I kept going to the shop alot, I had the pleasure of getting to know the owner and staff. I can tell you that the staff at Taro Noodle House are one of the friendliest, hygienic, and down to earth people. Each time I ate there, the waiter (or owner) would always tell me how things are made. You could tell the passion that they have.
This shop is one of those hidden gems in Lethbridge - it's perhaps one of the best restaurants I've ever been to, In. My. Life. I've tried out most (if not all) of their menu, and posted some of the photos below. I hope you enjoy eating at this place as much as I did, when I was in Lethbridge.
Happy new year and thank you for being the...
Read moreTaro Noodle Soup offers a mixed experience, leaning towards average. The restaurant itself is clean and has a pleasant, minimalist ambiance, creating a relaxed setting for a casual meal, although the decor is somewhat unremarkable. On the positive side, the service was notably good; the staff members were friendly, attentive, and efficient, always ensuring our needs were met promptly and with a smile. This high level of service significantly contributed to a welcoming atmosphere. However, the culinary aspect of the visit left much to be desired. I opted for the Dan Dan ramen, which, despite its appealing presentation, was a letdown in terms of taste and preparation. The noodles were noticeably undercooked, resulting in a chewy texture that detracted from the overall enjoyment of the dish. Furthermore, the soup lacked the robust and savory depth expected of a good ramen; instead, it tasted rather bland and uninspired. The inclusion of an excessive amount of carrots didn’t help either, as they seemed out of place and detracted from the other components of the dish. While the value for money might be acceptable for some, considering the less-than-stellar food quality, it felt a bit overpriced. Overall, Taro Noodle Soup has potential, mainly due to its great staff and inviting ambiance, but improvements to the food are essential to elevate the dining experience and encourage a...
Read moreNow to start, there is NO air conditioning and this is summer, and a very hot one at that. So I take a bite, wipe my face, take a bite, wipe my face...SO uncomfortable that it ruined the whole experience. Both times that I have been, I have had the same noodle bowl in a dark broth with beef, egg, and vegetables (I forget the name). I ordered the same a second time as the first one was delicious and VERY generous. It was a pricey lunch however, around $18.00. Now I would expect to pay this in a full service resturant, but not in a order at the counter type of restaurant. Even though the dish is technically worth the price, I eat out in part, for full service. If it is a cafe style of restaurant, and I am serving myself, I expect to pay less. My friend had a stirfry, but when she received it there was no rice. We have never had stirfry ever without rice! She had to order a seperate dish of rice, and of course it was extra. I think that this restaurant has some good food, but they are missing the boat on many levels: Customer service (and I don't necessarily mean full service, but the order taker was not impressive), price, temperature, and atmosphere (I am not a fan of open concept...
