EDIT ON MY OLD REVIEW: An extreme disappointment since new owners took over. I am changing my 5 star rating. They took away all the unique and most delicious items on the menu, the sandwhiches and soups are all gone. All the pesto sandwhiches and wraps which you couldnt find anywhere else are gone. They have no dinner options anymore and the menu is significantly reduced. This place used to be a hidden gem and offered something different compared to other restaurants in the city. Now all the food is just average, its the same stuff you can get anywhere else and they dont do anything original or unique to make it stand out. Jimmys lunch box is almost the same as this place now but they actually offers more variety & better food for a much cheaper price. I have been going here for 4 years, my boyfriend came for a meal nearly every single day for the last 15 years and we are now looking for a new "spot" to frequent. The bathroom was also disgusting, the windows smeared and dirty as if they were wiped with a dirty cloth. Ive never seen the place dirty before, both the last owner and previous owner made sure it was always spotless. Its not homey or welcoming, they took out all the decor and replaced it with an ugly rack full of bins on the wall. They also screwed up on our meal. Im honestly extremely devastated at all the changes for the worse and my partner and I are at a loss for where else to go for our frequent meals. This was our spot and there was nowhere else like it. Big feast was comparable but more of a treat as its very expensive there. Unfortunate turn of events for this place. 😢
OLD 5 STAR REVIEW: No longer applies This place is amazing! It's a hidden wonder in Maple Ridge, I had gone by this place without a second thought my whole life living here until my boyfriend took me and now I am addicted to their food! (Especially the cream of broccoli soup!) My boyfriend and I come here all the time now, the food is absolutely delicious. All of the soups are FANTASTIC! The service is great. We both always order a tea and we don't even have to ask anymore, as soon as we come in and sit down they bring it right out to us. The head chef is wonderful, he makes the place very cozy and inviting. The food is healthier than most other options for eating out and at very reasonable prices. I have already recommended this place to other friends of mine and I would gladly...
Read moreToday is the first time I've eaten at Kokodak since all the pandemic restrictions ended including the seven month extension for the unvaccinated. Didn't do any takeout. I went in once recently but the lunch special I wanted ended at 3:00 so I just missed it. My experience today was somewhat disappointing. I was the only person in the restaurant around 2:30 PM. The server was friendly enough but when my seasoned chicken and rice came, the rice was warm, not hot. The chicken was as delicious as I remembered it, except that the other two or three times I ordered it, it came with shredded green onion on top which added some wonderful flavour. When the server came to see if everything was okay, I mentioned that it came with green onion last time. She pointed to the hanging board menu near the till that I couldn't see from where I was sitting and said, "We have green onion. You ordered seasoned chicken. The padak is the green onion." Whenever I'd been in before, which is years ago now, there was a young man working there and the menus were on paper. I asked if the the ownership had changed. She said no. When I got home, I googled the menu. Apparently I could have ordered a side of green onion for $3 but she didn't offer it to me. And I know there used to be scallops on the menu as an appie because a friend recommended them to me so either the menu has changed or the management has. When she brought my takeout box for the half of my meal that I couldn't finish, she had her hand over her mouth, chewing. Seemed unprofessional but maybe I'm being nitpicky. Maybe she could sense I'm nitpicky and thought it was better to bring it with her mouth full so I didn't complain she took too long, ha. Generally, I would recommend the chicken and this experience won't keep me away. It was a live and learn day. Also, I noticed people mentioned a lack of street parking but there is a small lot just around the corner down the first lane...
Read moreI’ve never had Korean fried chicken before and I kept hearing that this was the place to go. Words can’t describe how impressed I was but I’ll give it a shot.
The restaurant was clean and spacious and very well organized. There was only one person working (I’m assuming the owner) and he was very friendly and attentive. He also brought us a couple of glasses of water even though we did not ask for any which was very nice.
We decided to try 2 half orders of boneless chicken. One of their signature seasoned chicken and the other was the garlic pepper chicken. At $16.50 for a half order I have to say that they were massive portions! The chicken was boneless thigh meat in an insanely crunchy breading and tossed in these delicious, sweet and spicy sticky sauces. We managed to eat half of both and packed up the rest.
The chicken was hot, juicy, and stayed crunchy even after sitting in the sauce for a bit. This place is seriously amazing and I would recommend this to anyone. Can’t wait to come back and try their different flavours! I read in some reviews that the cream and onion flavour is good so will most likely...
