I came here again today since my last review a few mths ago and this time I did take out. To my surprise, this place put in sooo much effort even for the take out. The food was prepped neatly and beautifully. The server also gave a whole walk through how to enjoy the food at its best condition. Honest I wouldn't expect too much for take out but this little place surprised me again. the noodle were so placed neatly and beautifully and the dessert was so pretty too! Even tho I had no idea what I ordered the server recommended all this and asked if you had any allergies and stuff. ONLY FOR take out too!! SOOO Considerate! Honestly I really didn't understand what I had ordered for the dessert ( it was called forever young, 🤣🤣) I took the word from the server to try it. It was very good. I really love the food here and their hospitality is what keeps me going back for more. Thank you so much! 🙏🏻
I fail to understand how this place has no line up already!!! This place is a hidden jem! If you haven't already been here you should really give it a try! It's the whole place that keeps me coming back over all those "other big name-brand chain stores". It's a whole atmosphere, the coziness, the exceptional service and cute decor and good food that lures me to come back each time. there are many too many competitors out there serving the same kinds of food, but this place, is different. each time u go in, they make you feel like you are a guest in their house, rather than some random customer who's in here food. you can tell they put in a lot of effort to make your food be the best and they also make sure by giving each guest true food customer service. the servers are very friendly and explain their menu in details and check in on you to ensure u get exceptional food service. and this is not just a one time thing. i can honestly say i haven't been here too many times, maybe 3-4? but each time i get the same excellent treatment to make me believe that they genuinely want to make you feel good after you dine there and make sure you enjoyed their food. it seems like they are very proud of their food and want to ensure that all customers are well taken care of. i really like their decor as i think is very cute and cozy and it seems like they put in a lot of effort to make it personalized and unique. can't say enough about their great service and of course food is great. I'm not a regular customer simply bc i can't eat rice noodles all day but i do think that this place deserves to be acknowledged and recognized. I also do believe that small business that put their whole heart into making u feel so welcome deserves to have the word spread...
Read moreEdit: in response to the comment from the restaurant. It would have been helpful if I could cancel my order to save everyone the stress and hassle. If the customer isn’t able to do it then the restaurant should cancel the order that someone places. This is part of service when you operate a business of any kind. I hope no one else experiences this themselves… Came here for the $12 noodle special that was posted outside the restaurant door. We didn’t know you had to sign up for the Fantuan app in order to claim this deal. There was no instructions provided to us as we tried to sign up and order. We selected pick up as there was no dine in option. After I informed the server, she told us that we needed to select “dine in” but even when she saw on our phone, she didn’t know what to do…there really wasn’t an option. Why did it take so much back and forth between her and a male employee to figure out what to do ? They all knew we wanted to dine in and we said so multiple times. All they had to do was put the food in bowls instead of takeout containers. We already paid in the app, so I don’t understand why they made us wait so long only to have the male employee say “so you want to switch to dine in” ? Of course we do, we kept telling the waitress that. Also, the waitress was sick (blowing her nose a lot). This was a bad experience and I won’t be coming back. As for the food, it looked great but tasted so bland. There was no flavour, so that was disappointing. I still left a tip even though we received no help. The food was dropped off, tea was poured once and that was it. There was no apology and...
Read moreLocated in a bustling Markham plaza, Hua Ma Spring Yunnan Rice Noodles offers a modern interpretation of traditional southwestern Chinese street food. My tasting included three main dishes and a signature milk tea, each demonstrating careful attention to ingredient integrity and layered flavors.
Kunming Braised Pork Rice Noodles
This dish features slow‑braised pork in a collagen‑rich broth that yields a silky, full‑bodied mouthfeel. The rice noodles—made from imported Yunnan rice—are hydrated and dried to achieve an ideal chewy texture that clings to the savory broth. A garnish of cilantro and scallions brightens the dish without overwhelming its earthy backbone.
Mixed Sauce Tossed Noodles
Emphasizing the umami of ground pork, fermented soybean paste, and doubanjiang, this dish coats hand‑pulled noodles in a balanced, moderately thick sauce. The noodles maintain a resilient bite, while the sauce’s sweet‑salty profile is offset by fresh scallions for palate refreshment.
Skewers Hot Pot (Clear Broth Base)
The clear broth, crafted from simmered chicken bones and aromatics, presents a translucent yet flavorful foundation. Assorted skewers—ranging from meats to vegetables and tofu—retain their intrinsic textures and flavors when cooked gently. The broth’s mild heat and layered spice reflect an authentic “chuanchuan” experience.
Hua Ma Signature Milk Tea
Built on a black tea base, this milk tea incorporates subtle rice fragrance and floral essences. With a well‑balanced sweetness and creamy mouthfeel, it serves as an effective counterpoint to the...
