September 2025
Quality has slipped with their food. We ordered the curry beef with roti and deep fried pork chop with salad. We went during tea time and it was empty. But they made sure they gave us some attitude like it was super bust with a line up outside the door 10 years ago. It was my favorite Hk cafe in Markham, but may I should look for a new one since there are many new and old choices within a 15 drive

Malaysian Curry beef and rice is still excellent. HK Tea is bold and flavorful without the soapy taste like many other cafe. Prices went up, but still good value!
Update Nov 2023 Attitude of staff has improved. Order the beef brisket and tendon. It was packed on the weekend after 9:30 am. So i try the get there at 8 when they open or go at 4 pm for their tea time special. Tendon were soft and broth was excellent. HK tea was perfect- strong but not overwhelming.
Update March 13 2023
Went there recently for their breakfast. Prices went up a liitle but so did the quality.
Order bacon and eggs. 3 strips ifn Bacon was not the typical cheaper cuts but good quality that was cooked crispy but not burnt. Over easy Sunny side eggs was cooked with fresh oil and not leftover oil from their chickens wings deep fryer like the other places around the corner.
I also shared the beef tendons noodle soup ($1 extra if you wanted all tendons) broth had deep flavors and made with love. It tasted like 85% + like what you would get in hong kong.
5/5 food 4/5 service. It has improved since it is less busy due to prices increasing but we had to wait 5 minutes for a table. And there was no side order of attitude from the staff.
Great food&ok prices but services need improvement.Eat here3 times a month for many years.went for breakfast last weekend&the older lady with glasses always gives us attitude. She left before confirming the sides we wanted for the bacon combo& I said loudly bacon. She gave us ham. And I never return food in a restaurant. The waitress were fighting with that kitchen that day. We sat at the booth next to the cash.
HK TEA was excellent as usual Eggs and ham was very good Noodle with beef was great
That older waitress with glasses has been there for many years so my only option is to...
Read moreIt's a typical HK cafe located in New Kennedy Square. The parking lot is massive. There's not a lot of seats inside.
I was deciding between hainanese chicken rice and a malaysian curry dish. Ultimately, the tv screen on the wall swayed me to the curry rice.
Malaysian curry chicken steak w/ rice: The curry was tasty and the chicken was tender. I do wish they gave me a bigger chicken steak though. If I go to Silvery Bay Cafe in Richmond Hill or Cafe Le Majestik in Scarbs, I'm definitely getting more protein in my meal. Also, I do wish the curry came out more piping hot. It was kinda lukewarm when it arrived tbh.
Baked pork chop rice w/ cream and tomato sauce: My friend said the pork chop was moist but again, the sauces on top of the rice could've been steaming hot as opposed to lukewarm. The added cheese was a nice touch though.
Hokkaido ramen w/ beef and enoki mushroom: I warned my friend not to order ramen at an HK cafe but she refused to listen to me. Anyways, she said this dish was not that great (go figure) but she did say the beef tasted nice and tender.
The drinks that are included w/ your meal are on the larger side which is nice (almost makes me wanna add an extra star) but they also aren't mixed that well.
Would I return? Prolly not of my own accord. I'm definitely not in a rush to come back and try the other items. In my personal opinion, there are a lot of HK cafes better than this one but it gets a solid pass. Ironically, if it's true that Manna Kitchen and Blue Ocean Cafe have the same owner, I'd be really surprised as Manna Kitchen completely blows this place out...
Read moreWe order take out from them sometimes. They have a great selection of combos for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. The food quality and price is reasonable. Recently they have increased in their price but they offer you 10% discount if you pay by cash.
They reopened for patio dining. The seating area was quite decent. They have 3 tables inside a tent and few small tables along the sidewalk in front of their restaurant. It was setup in a good social distance manner. Even if you go for patio dining there, the food was packed in clean take out containers.
We finally visited Blue Ocean Cafe after they reopened for dine in service. The food quality was good & consistent. However, the service can be improved.
It’s been a while since we had dine in breakfast at Blue Ocean Cafe. They are one of the cafes that open so early in the neighbourhood. This cafe is a good choice if you want to have Hong Kong Style food. Their Breakfast Combo and Stir-Fried Noodle/ Rice Lunch Combo are affordable and tasty.
Recently, we came here with our visitors from USA to have afternoon tea sets. They were craving for some Hong Kong style cafe food. The restaurant was very crowded and the seating were very tight. The food was good but I must say that their service need to have some improvements. Most of the staff were ok but one lady was awful. She was rude and very impatient with elderly customers. Hopefully they can have better customer service when I...
