Eggsmart — Restaurant in Markham

I went to this place about 6-7 times because I work odd hours and sometimes in the morning I have time to drop by for a nice quiet breakfast. Food-wise I like the variety on the menu, its the common breakfast stuff + others like the skillet, u can have more fries in the morning and their big breakfast is cheap and the atmosphere was very comfortable, I like chilling with a hot cup of coffee.

So my review of the service here is bad because I don't really know why, the female servers on more than few occasions, pointed to a place where I can sit, then moved on to provide menus and drinks to other people who sat down after me, then walks past me when I signal them (even when they literally just walk past me from behind), and when I try to signal a different server they tell me to wait.

On more than a few occasions, I waited 5 minutes just to get a menu, after I get the coffee its another waiting game or actively flagging down the waitress just to get my order down. I almost had to give the waitress looks just to get some service and it wasn't particularly busy, I was never rude to anyone either and in the first 5-6 times I always tipped 15% or above. Yesterday on 11th march was my last time going there because I knew what I wanted to order already and I almost waited 10 minutes just to get my order down, meanwhile 2 others tables that just got seated, got their menus instantly, got their drinks shortly after, and got their orders in. The manager seems to be the only one there that reacts instantly and proactively does something, which is why I gave some stars for that. I can tell you all Eggsmart's are not created equal. I have eaten in many Eggsmart locations and generally I really have no issues at all and I have enjoyed the food & service but this location was not like the experience I'm used too especially in my home town of Ajax. I walk in at 10:30am on a Wednesday and 3 people inside. Its not busy, waitress seems nice and friendly. I order my usual, Eggsmart Big Breakfast. The toast comes burnt and the pancakes were like Styrofoam, otherwise everything else was okay. At all other locations maple syrup comes in a large bottle with a pour spout and handle and you can divulge what you require, this location seems to have a limit on the syrup you get and they give you a small plastic container that made me feel like I was getting prison rations. At other locations they automatically bring ketchup, salt and pepper and the caddy with the jam and peanut butter.....not this location, you have to ask for everything. I was not even offered a second cup of coffee nor did she ask if my meal was okay. The reason for 1 star is I asked this waitress 2 times for butter for my pancakes which I like to melt it on while hot. She ignored my requests and I had to walk up and get it myself. This waitress was also giving the Skipthedishes guy a hard time and left frustrated. I even heard the cook yell at her, "WAKE UP MARIA" She was folding napkins around cutlery when I walked up to get my butter so obviously not that busy. Really....this location was not good for me and I did not tip the waitress at all. Hopefully, she will get the message and makes some...

This might be the worst service I’ve ever experienced. The restaurant only had 3 other tables. The waitress was very aggressive and impatient. I had to ask three times for water. Ultimately I had to go up to the kitchen and ask directly. When the food arrived, I didn’t receive the correct pancakes (I ordered chocolate chip and received plain). Instead of fixing the order, the waitress returned with a bowl of chocolate chips and asked me if it’s okay to just put it on top. We politely declined...She then returned 10 minutes later saying the kitchen was out of chocolate chip pancake mix and then began to force other options on the menu. Once again we politely declined. When she came with the bill, she had the audacity to charge us for the wrong pancakes that we did not order. She then returned saying there was nothing she could do because she doesn’t have the manager number to deduct the pancakes from our bill. This was singlehandely the worst service I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant. Eggsmart is a decent restaurant, but please, avoid this location...
