I'm not one to readily dispense harsh criticism, but my recent experience with the food and bubble tea scene in Milton left much to be desired. In search of a glimmer of hope and the chance to redeem the town's culinary reputation, I turned to the highest rated ice cream parlour as I always do.
Unfortunately, my hopes came crumbling down. Having traveled across Ontario and tried the top-rated ice cream parlours in various cities, I've noticed a pattern: if a place sells weirdly colored ice cream with quirky names like "moon mist," chances are, the ice cream won't live up to the hype.
Opting for a modest kiddie scoop of chocolate and salted caramel, I was met with an unexpected and off-putting initial taste. The salted caramel flavor proved to be an odd rendition, deviating far from the familiar profile of this classic treat. Instead, it carried a funky and somewhat pungent note, leaving only a traumatic memory. Despite giving it additional bites, the taste only marginally improved. In the end, I found myself unable to consume more than half of the portion, leading me to dispose of it.
Offering critiques of this nature is not customary for me. Nevertheless, when comparing Jay's Ice Cream to better known establishments like Bang Bang in Toronto, it becomes evident that it falls short in terms of quality. The peculiar flavoring, slight residue, and inconsistent texture left me with a sense of disappointment.
Overall, based on this one-time experience, I have to give Jay's Ice Cream a 2.5/5. However, if I ever find myself back in Milton, I'll be open to giving it a second chance and...
Read moreRecently moved to Milton and found this gem. I've already visited Jay's Ice Cream twice in the last two weeks. The ice cream is extremely delicious and would definitely would recommend.
My only issue I had was during my visit on Jul 21, 2022. There were mostly young women who were working that evening and I could sense some attitude and very unpleasant young ladies. I was still looking to purchase some more ice cream but the cashier was in a rush and didn't care to ask if I was finished ordering with the person serving me so I just took my first order and left.
My first visit a couple weeks ago, the young men and ladies who worked that day were very pleasant, welcoming and patient.
Overall they have the best ice cream I've had in a long time,...
Read moreI don't normally crave ice cream from Jay's - their ice cream isn't that great, but they definitely got the variety. The staff was very rude today about their "two samples only" policy. I don't mind the policy, but the attitude this was communicated to me was NOT pleasant. On top of that, the staff were whispering to each other in front of my face - this certainly was not exemplifying service excellence. This has certainly left me a bad impression; I do NOT intend on returning.
In this day and age, it's about the quality of service. I would rather get my ice cream (and pay more) at Marble Slab. At least they will give me great service just as they always have (they now have unlimited mix-ins too which is...
