Not a great experience getting food here, but I hope to offer some constructive criticism here as I see some potential with this restaurant.
First of all the operational mishaps: I gave this restaurant a second try as the first time I went to the restaurant they said it was going to be a 40 minute wait despite literally no customers waiting for their food and I went there well after dinner time. When I ordered for pick up with estimated time of 20 minutes, the final time before I got my food was 50 minutes. There was another family that walked in and ordered their food and got their food ahead of mine in 15 minutes. Turns out my food was actually already packed up and ready to go for awhile as the cashier did not realize she already bagged my food even though I came in mentioning that I was waiting for pickup, and it was not a busy time at any means and there were only one other customer during my 30 minute wait. As a restaurant owner you should know the one thing that pisses off customer most is when they get their food after other customers that come after them.
Second on the food quality: It is clear that prior reviews of using old oil still remains the case, the batter of the fried chicken has the dark orange look as you would expect. The texture of the chicken itself also seems like it's overcooked as the thigh and leg's texture feels like a rubber band, or overcooked calamari. The spicy flavor is the redeeming factor, but can't compensate for the bad mouthfeel or the old batter. Compared to the operational issue from before, this isn't even that bad considering I've already set the bar real low coming here.
I think this place has a lot of potential if they get their logistics right and revisit how they're cooking the chicken. The redeeming factor with this place is that it's reasonably priced and the size of the chicken is quite good (and hence my 2 star rating and not 1), but taking into account the whole experience, just go to a Mary Brown's and you can get tastier and more reliable...
Read moreThis establishment is run by extremely friendly and welcoming staff, they gave me plenty of plastic bags without charge and helped explain the menu items perfectly to me. However, this places is only a 3/5 for me because of the actual food itself. I had ordered the mild chicken sandwich and they said it would take 10 minutes, 20 minutes later and it was still not done until an extra 5. So they were more than double the wait time they said. Once I got the food, it looked quite appetizing and smelled decent, but my happy thoughts faded away as I took the first bite… I was met with the most plastic and elastic like chicken where the fried skin was falling off of the actual chicken, revealing the pink edges around, meaning it’s raw. This food was seasoned well however their sauce threw the flavour off and they do not match well at all. The bread was like lays potatoes chips and crumbled in my hands as I grabbed it, very messy and u comfortable. I took the bite from the chicken sandwich and the chicken was so stringy and plastic it took the whole chicken piece out with it. Very disappointed with how this turned out and will definitely not be returning. They also had very little selection which was disappointing as I wanted 3 different items before I was told what was available. The price however was very reasonable as it was only $9 for a sandwich. Considering how much fast food for chicken there are nearby, I do not recommend eating here. Unless you like eating oily...
Read moreI decided to try Super Chicken out and ordered some from Uber Eats for my mother and I. I got us a combo G, which had 2 regular chicken sandwiches, 1 smash chicken, fries, popcorn chicken and drinks.
The popcorn chicken was tasty and enjoyable.
The fries were fresh and hot. Also tasty.
Now the rest of the meal was the issue.
The smash chicken was spicy for some reason when it wasn’t indicated that it would be. I made sure to check the items I ordered to ensure there were non-spicy versions since I have an allergy to spicy chilis and peppers. This was a disappointment. It was fresh and hot but the pepper in the seasoning was making my mouth swell and I couldn’t eat it once I realized it was spicy.
Next, the chicken burgers. The only topping on the burgers was mayo and 2 pieces of lettuce… and let me tell you, I have NEVER had such old, rotting and rancid lettuce like this in my life. I was eating in the dark and when I took a bite I could taste something severely OFF and slimy in my mouth. I had to remove both lettuce pieces and give myself a minute to get the sliminess out of my mouth.
My mother had the other chicken sandwich and the chicken was undercooked.
I will NEVER order from here again. Imagine paying $40 and being given such low quality food.
If I wanted to eat rotting burger toppings, I would just eat out of my...
