Love this place! Super nice owners who take pride in their products. Best banh mi in all of GTA in my opinion, and I've tried them all: shops on Spadina in Toronto, Vaughan, East Chinatown ... This place sets the standard: baguette to filling ratio, balance of crispy/crunchy/chewy textures, delicious variety of fillings from the classic mix, to in-house made meats of fish, sausages, fresh & neatly cut vegetable and cilantro garnishes, sharp bite of fresh chili for that authentic accent. The trendy shops written up on Toronto Life, BlogTO don't compare to this store's stuff. Their menu is limited, but what they do they do it well. After trying different breads for a bit, they've got it perfect now ... the long skinny crispy baguette does it for me. Their "butter" on their subs has always been the bomb! My fave is the meatball warmed up ... if they haven't yet sold out. Tried their steamed rice rolls too which are also amazing. Love this amazing eatery that I've frequented for many, many years for myself & children. I only discovered it as I often shop at Grants grocery @ the Dixie High Point Mall. This bakery deserves more respect & love. Closed on Tuesdays.
UPDATE: I've tried to buy a bahn mi at 4pm-4:30 five times and they 've run out of bread by that time. Closing at 7pm or 6pm, they consistently run out. They have plenty of fillings but no bread. Their remedy is call them in advance to order. Customers I see picking up their orders do so 6-12 at a time, estimating by the size of the bags I see go out. I'm not that well planned, and I only want one to eat right away or for lunch the next day. Not going to WASTE my time with this gem that can't adjust their bread production to keep up with the demand. Sad , as I've been buying here for 18 years and the service has been inept in that I have to call them vs. making more bread to serve customers2-3 hours before closing. I guess Customers who aren't part of the Vietnamese community aren't important anymore. Will have to find another place that has food available after 4pm for $4.50 /bahn mi. Letting go of desire to find...
Read moreWhere do I even begin?! This is definately my most favourite banh mi spot. This is family owned and only a few people were working on a Sunday morning but they were friendly and efficient. You can tell they work hard and put their sweat and tears into this family business. Everything is made in house. The bread is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. They are very generous with the meat, especially the cha lua (love this) and I asked for extra pate sauce. I dont know what they put into this sauce aside from pate but it is AMAZING. It probably has mayo or butter mixed into the pate but its creamy and delicious goodness. I wish they sold this on the side. The veggies in the banh mi were very fresh. I cant wait to go back and try the meatball and fried fish banh mis. I will definately make my way back there weekly. It is $5 per sandwich which I think is a steal in this day and age. There is no tax and they only take cash. When they run out of the goods, the close up shop so sometimes they arent open till closing time as advertised. There is lots of parking in this plaza. You have to enter into the plaza where the supermarket is and the banh mi shop is a few stores down. Please support this small business. The owners are so lovely, the food is homemade and tasty, and $5 for a meal is a steal. P.S. I have no pictures of my sandwich because I ate it as soon as I got...
Read moreI love their Banh Mi. Closest to how my Mommy makes them. Fresh ingredients with their own in house baked Vietnamese Baguettes. I ALWAYS get extra spicy assorted. The Owners are so adorable lol She makes fresh Banh Cuon in the mornings...I call in and/or battle the ancient ones, to ensure I have 2 orders set aside on the weekends. I'm willing to take down a grandma for the Banh Cuon 😅 I have been all over the GTA and Downtown Core for Banh Mi..even my ever so beloved Hood, and this place blows them all away. They even have homemade pickled sour pork and traditional Veit desserts.... Lots of respect for this Banh...
