I have been shopping here for years. I was there last week to buy a few things. As usual, I wanted to buy my Polish meats and cheese.
This time, my Polish friend was helping me order and she was being served by a woman with long, straight brown hair. This woman (was speaking Polish in a non-polite way) was not Polish who was working behind counter. My friend spoke in Polish to her and this woman was replying in rude ways of speaking. She was very annoyed and had a bad attitude. My friend was asking for meats and when she would slice them, she did it incorrectly. She gave for example 270 grams when we asked for 200. She also cut everything thickly and we wanted thin.
I felt a little embarrassed because other customers were looking her interactions with us and her rude attitude and tone. My friend also asked for a specific cheese and the woman was confrontational and said that's not the one my friend asked for. My friend has been shopping for years and had to tell the woman which is the correct cheese and where it is located. The woman was annoyed.
It's sad to see that this store has declined. I (not being Polish) and my friend had shopped here for about 15+years. Customer service and attitude training is needed. It's not a pleasant place to shop as...
Read moreAs a regular customer of Wisla, I've long appreciated their selection of butcher meat and products from Poland. However, after my recent experiences, I've made the difficult decision to no longer patronize this establishment. Despite my loyalty, I couldn't ignore the concerning observations I made during my visits. Notably, the exclusive use of Polish language by the staff, even when interacting with non-Polish-speaking customers, creates a barrier to effective communication and leaves many feeling excluded. Furthermore, it's disheartening to witness a disparity in the level of care and attention given to customers based on their nationality or ethnicity. Such biased treatment goes against the values of inclusivity and equality that I hold dear. In addition to these issues, the quality of the prosciutto leaves much to be desired. The slices are consistently uneven and resemble more of a crumbled mess than the desired thin, uniform slices expected from such a delicacy. Overall, while Wisla offers a range of authentic Polish products, the lack of inclusivity, biased treatment, and subpar product quality have led me to seek alternatives for my shopping needs. I hope they take these concerns seriously and strive to improve their practices...
Read moreEDIT I initially left a 1⭐️ review regarding my first time experience visiting this store. After getting hot food (which was actually delicious) and unfortunately later on feeling nauseous and vomiting, I wrote about my experience and Paul (owner) replied promptly with his phone number and took the right approach to not only fix my concern and take the necessary steps to fix what might have caused it but also rectified the situation and offered me a gift card! It was an honest mistake and things happen during food processing etc, but his attitude and approach to fix the situation makes me want to give it another try. Thanks for reaching out Paul!
I ordered some hot food from this store yesterday and just a few hours later I started feeling a headache and nauseous. I went to the washroom and vomited up everything I ate from this place. Salmon, perogies, mashed potatoes, chicken with walnuts and veggies. Literally everything I had came out of me, I'm pretty disappointed and I'll never come here...
