Restaurant Review: Caplansky's Delicatessen at Toronto Pearson Airport
Rating: ★★★★★
If you're heading through Toronto Pearson Airport and find yourself with a bit of time to spare, do yourself a favor and make a beeline for Caplansky's Delicatessen. I recently had the pleasure of dining there, and I can confidently say it was the best breakfast I've ever eaten!
From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere made me feel right at home. The décor pays homage to classic delis, with a modern twist that feels fresh yet comforting. But let’s get to the star of the show—the food!
I ordered the breakfast special, featuring local bacon, eggs, and freshly baked bagels. The bacon was a revelation—thick, smoky, and cooked to perfection. You can truly taste the quality of the local ingredients; it made all the difference. The eggs were fluffy and seasoned just right, and the bagel was a delightful accompaniment, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
What impressed me most was the attention to detail in every dish. Caplansky’s celebrates local flavors, and it shows in their commitment to sourcing the best ingredients. You can really feel the pride in their cooking.
Now, here’s the best part: I think I’ve unlocked a new travel tradition! Every time I pass through Toronto, I’m making Caplansky's a mandatory stop for breakfast. It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience that sets a positive tone for the rest of my travels.
In a bustling airport environment, it’s refreshing to find a gem like Caplansky's Delicatessen. If you're looking for a hearty, delicious breakfast that honors local flavors, this is the place to be. Don’t miss out on this culinary treasure—your taste buds...
Read moreWas there today, for the 1st time maybe ever I walked out of a restaurant.
It says seat yourself, which I happily did. I sat 1st table off the bar. I was dealing with a few messages, so looked at the menu and knew what I wanted to order. I then was working through a few things, so was at my phone. Eventually I hadn’t been attended to for at least 10minutes. I started my stopwatch then. I was wondering if there wasn’t table service, but I thought that was unlikely due to covid and the sign saying to seat yourself.
A couple of waiters were trudging around, looked like they had no interest in working. I tried to catch the attention of the waiter multiple times but to put it very politely “he ain’t looking”. I then tried to catch the eye of the girl behind the bar, in fairness she was busy but I was under her nose!
Anyway another 9mjnutes passed and even some of the people who “sat themselves” after me had made an order. I'm 6ft & 120 kg, 1st time I remember being inviable 😂! I then decided to vote with my feet! I got up and left in front of two bar staff who didn't bother to ask me anything. Went to Fionn MacCools down the terminal, average food but had a staff that wanted to work.
In airport land that'll do!
My advice, is if you want service give this...

I had an early morning flight, and after dropping off my rental car, and getting through security I was hungry.
My nose lead me here and I was happy it did. As it was so early, I wanted breakfast and one of the menu items stood out to me. The Smoked Meat Hash.
The food came quick, like shortly after my first couple sips of coffee. It was hot and ready to be consumed.
Being an airport restaurant the portions aren’t massive but it was enough to hit the spot.
The smoked meat is cut into small pieces, but began as a thicker piece of meat before they did this. I mean it’s a hash.
There was just the right amount of onion, and home fries with the whole thing draped in 2 over easy eggs.
The yolks burst with gooey yellowness over the hash. I would scoop it up and apply it to the rye bread and consume.
I wish this place was also outside of the airport. But I also live 1700kms away.
If I’m flying from terminal 3 again in the future I will...
