My friend Jessica provided a review, and the manager's response was so disgusting that I needed to share my experience as well. One of the worst things a service provider/business can do upon a customer expressing their displeased or making a complaint is to deflect and lie to save their self instead of just taking accountability and trying to rectifying the situation...all that tells me is you don't value my support as a customer!
Upon arriving at this place around 8 pm, we were the only ones there. Granted, we were a party of 7, but everything took extra long. Myself and Jessica received our orders after everyone was almost finished eating. The manager sat down the whole time. She didn't get up to assist her staff until further into the night when more people came. I thought it was weird because she could have assisted with our order to ensure it was severed at the same time. But anyway, that wasn't too much of a big deal. After I got my order which was the mango mania, before I even started to eat I noticed hair on the plate, I called the sever over and showed her the hair, I also said to her since as you have to now make over my order can I get kiwis instead of the banana. She said it would be best to order something with Kiwis. So, I placed an order that came with strawberries, blueberries, and kiwis. After receiving the second order, there was no kiwis. I asked why they said they ran out of Kiwis. I said, "Can I get extra blueberries and some more sauce then." After started to eat now half way into my food I see hair sitting under the ice cream I was so grossed out and disgusted they asked to make a new I said no as everyone else was finished eating and I was sick to my stomach.
They took the order off my bill and then came over to clear the bill. Without stating the amount, the server entered the transaction and prompted Jessica to pay... after paying, she noticed a charge that she went to speak to the manager about. At which point I was told that the manager made remarks about the hair being a fuzzy and not actual hair, and then it was someone at the tables hair. Which is absolutely incorrect. First of all, even it it was a fuzzy, how dare you expect me to be okay with that. This is a restaurant. The food standard policy governs appearance, sanitation, maximal bacterial count, and purity for food. Secondly, my hair was in braids. Therefore, it could not have possibly been my hair. Then, at another point, I believe she also stated there was no hair. If there was no hair, why didn't she come over and say that. All while not her or her staff wasn't wearing hair nets.
It's offensive to insinuate we are lying, especially over $22.00 when our bills were almost 250.00. And it's very unprofessional that you, as a manager, are responding justifying this poor quality and treatment.
We went to this place as a pre birthday celebration for my daughter and as a treat to our children, and it was a horrible experience just off the terrible service and the aftermath responses. I will say the food itself is horrible, but it's not the best either. It's sad and disheartening to spend your hard earn money in any establishment where you dont get to not enjoy the...
Read morewhen we arrived we were the only people in the restaurant other then staff, we placed our order.....5 out of 7 received their food in a timely manner, the other two orders took so long everyone else had already finished their food, one of those orders had hair on from the staff , so we sent it back , second order had one of the cooks hairs imbedded in the ice cream so it was sent back aswell. After a little back and forth with the server , she reluctantly removed that persons dessert off the bill. the waitress came to our table for payment , but did not tell us the total, she just asked for the card, and tapped it. The receipt looked alot more then i was expecting , i asked her how come she entered in the gratuity without telling me or asking me in advance , she said it was because we came with a group that had 7... i must pay 18%. I let her know shes suppose to tell the customers up front that is the situation, she cant just add it to the bill and that is that without giving anyone notification of that. I asked to speak to the manager whom was sitting down most of the time while we were there, i was told to go over and speak to her " because she was too busy to come over" so i went to speak with her to tell her how i felt about the experience .... she wanted to argue with me about the hairs that did not belong to anyones hair type in my group of people..... saying .... it was only on the plate the first time ....not the food ... my friend should have eaten it... needless to say the conversation didnt go well. i let her know they need to better train the staff and should have cooks and wearing hair nets, i showed her pictures we took of the hair. Needless to say we were disgusted the facility's health standards and disappointed with our experience , and shocked and disappointed with the level of maturity and accountability the manager displayed. -nasty hair in food... twice .... in both desserts wanted us to eat the food anyway had to fight with them to remove it off the bill -did not tell us about 7 person gratuity added onto bill tapped my card without my consent didnt tell me the total before asking for card for bill over all - food was ok, nice to look at , but a poor over all experience manager was argumentative and instead of taking accountability for the poor service and multiple hairs found in the food , then tried to blame it on us, and said we should have ate the food anyway you guys need...
Read moreIf you want to pay $20+ for dessert and be served in paper plates and with plastic cutlery like at a carnival, this is the place for you.
We have visited Fire Spot twice now. The first was at the larger location (they have just recently majorly downsized). At the larger location, we were greeted like a real restaurant, seated, offered water, asked for our order, which was served in regular serving ware with real cutlery. The price was equivalent to dspot and demetres range, It was a fantastic experience so we knew we would return.
Our second experience was the complete opposite. A narrow walkway into the restaurant, our stroller barely made it through. We found our own seats at the very small and cramped table area. The menu is split in two parts on the wall (probably because it didnt fit all on one side). So you will be flipping your head left and right to decide on what to have.
We were quite surprised at the way our dessert was charged. We ordered 2 items. A chocolate dipped vanilla cone (mediocre at best). Even the kids didnt jump to finish it. And a waffle with icecream, sauce and strawberries. The waffle was priced for each thing separately. Waffle, icecream, berries, sauce, wierd. Our total was priced at over $30 for the 2 desserts.
Water was not offered, however there was a dispenser available. Upon asking for a cup, we were handed a coffee cup to fill.
The dessert was then ready to pickup at the counter. It was in a paper plate. Ever have icecream in a paper plate? If not, be ready for it to soak into the plate by the time you are done. Cutlery was plastic. How fun. We were cutting into our dessert as though at a carnival. Except that its a restaurant and you expect better for what you've paid.
Taste: 7/10 nothing special or unique. Presentation: 2/10 ( they at least drizzled the sauce on top).
This place has gone from a great restaurant into a run down fast food joint you would stop at on a long drive because you have no choice and your kid really needs to use the bathroom. It is definitely not a first choice. Not even a second. I cant even picture it as takeout, because waffles with icecream for takeout is just wierd.
Try at your own risk. We will not...
