i absolutely Love firehouse subs. i tell all my friends and employees about it! my local shop makes you feel like you are getting a $22+ dollar per sub experience! they are always fast, fresh, friendly and fun! i have even turned Subway loyalists onto Firehouse loyalists. i have made everyone I meet try it because ive never ate something so delicious that left me feeling so good after ! this location however, was not that. i had been talking up fire house to some of my colleagues that i meet with by the airport road convention centre for a while and finally had the opportunity to be the one to choose where we go for dinner and much to my delight there was a fire house subs right by the convention center. with a beautiful park close by i decided to order pickup through uber eats so we could order before we left to srick within a short lunch break and i know delicious takes time within a minute of placing my order ibgor a notification that they were preparing my order. i was so pleased as i knew this meant it would be done by the time i arrived. when i arrived there was maybe 2 other cars in thr whole plaza. I patiently waited for a notification from uber that my order was done . after 20 mins, i still had no confirmation. I walked in to an empty restaurant with 3 employees hanging out laughing and speaking loudly in their language . once they finally came over to me i explained i had been waiting but no notification came through so i wanted to see what the status of my order was . to my surprise they said they hadn't started and it wouldn't be started until the time limit was reached. i asked for explanation because the app told me they were preparing it and I had been waiting. They said that no they need to wait until the time limit had come and they would maybe start 5 minutes before. I continue to ask why this was and if they could please just go ahead and get my order ready. They finally said yes they could and after waiting for my order to be complete I then asked if I could have some water. They said yes and quoted me a price that was nearly $4 per bottle of water. I said no thanks and asked if they had a cup that I could just fill some water with. they reluctantly gave me one and it was an extremely small cup. I was so disappointed with the service and never received an apology. I also will note that the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting and I have taken photos as well. I took the subs, went to the park and with a very frustrated group of employees waiting. we quickly ate as fast as we could and had to go back to work. some of the subs were soggy for some reason but I will say that I am very disappointed in the service and in the products and I was made to look very stupid and wasted a lot of money on this experience. Is somebody who works in the service industry I think it's important that you are aware of the situation. I kindly ask that you would refund me for this meal and make this situation right. This tardiness lost me valuable time and money. was very...
Read moreIt's sad to have to give 3 stars to this location, but I'm torn about this review ... this is only the second time I've been to a firehouse franchise and the food was just as amazing as the first one we visited ! I'm not sure why the hours sign didn't say what time they closed so we were confused if they were even open at first ... we ordered our food and started eating and were quite enjoying our food when the staff decided to start cleaning the vents on the ceiling with a ladder and a broom stick while the restaurant had people in it ... they could not actually reach the ceiling vents so they were kind of poking at them with a broom covered in a cloth, which was crazy ... I heard someone mentioned something about an inspection happening or something, but still could not wrap my head around why they were doing that while us and others were in there eating ... even after they cleaned the first vent and chunks of dirt came floating down from the vent they did not stop and we just had their eating while watching fluffs of dirt float down and land everywhere ... they proceeded to clean off the top of the fridge and everywhere else it had fallen ... seeing as the other three vents on the ceiling were over the food prep areas we thought there was absolutely no chance they were going to try doing that while they were open ... but sadly we were extremely wrong ... we finished our food and promptly left ... even as we walked over to put away the hot sauces we were using as they were still cleaning and the person holding the ladder right beside the hot sauces just looked at us and did not say a word ... we got out of there as quickly as possible so as not to actually see them cleaning the two vents directly above where they prepared...
Read moreWHAT TO TRY?!
The hot subs. I was debating between the Smokehouse beef and cheddar brisket sub and the firehouse hero. But honestly, all the specialty subs are worth a try!
The restaurant started in the States and now their franchise is slowly opening more in Canada. Now there are over six locations in Ontario alone, this restaurant's theme is firefighter themed due to the origins of the founders.
The subs come in 6 or 12 inches and they are made fresh to order! There are also lots of complimentary free toppings to add to your sub of choice so you really can load up the sub.
I also tried the butternut squash soup. The soup comes with a bag of crackers. Nothing particularly stood out to me about the soup though.
The smokehouse beef brisket is smoked for 16 hours before it's served on the sub so you're guaranteed some smokiness in the sub.
LAST TIP?!
If you order a drink, you fill it up yourself with their Coca Cola touchscreen machine so that means you can fill up as many different drinks you want, however many times you want. The 6 inch is a decent size for lunch and or dinner because they really stack it up with lots of meat and toppings however if you really hungry, go for the full...
