If I could give a ZERO star review I would!!!! My husband went here this evening to get dinner for himself and my son. Keep in mind he is Jamaican and has been eating Caribbean food his entire life. He brought home the food and instantly said it smelt like it was spoiled and it tasted disgusting! The meat was Deff not cleaned properly and the rice was mushy and soggy! My 17 year old teenage son who eats almost anything wouldn't even eat it, and that says a lot. The food costed him $37 for two plates. Needless to say I got in my car with the receipt to bring the food back and get his money back. When I arrived I stood there for a good 5 minutes before anyone even came out of the back. One Chiny lady came out and when I told her I was there for a refund she was rude and went to the back to get the "chef"!! He came out and asked me what the problem was and said why don't I want to eat the food? I was honest and he was not happy obviously. He told me he has NEVER EVER had a complaint about his food but after reading the reviews I find that hard to believe! I got my money back and I will never go there again. Service is terrible, please is dirty and food...
Read moreAbsolute garbage. The food was lukewarm. The oxtail was flavourless. The provision tasted old and unseasoned like the meat. Even the fried dumpline/festivals were trash. I don't know who's cooking that food, but they're from no part of the Caribbean. And to top off the disgusting trauma this brought to my stomach, I found a long HAIR in my food!
The food tasted like it was crying for flavour and no one answered. It was a complete waste of $22. If you know what actual food taste like, and enjoy some form of seasoning to your food, you won't like it.
Take the "Caribbean" off of your sign and the Bob Marley pictures out of your establishment. Your food is horrible and is not a proper representation of the Caribbean culture.
Places like this is why people can walk around and say they hate Caribbean food, because these people that know nothing about flavour or seasoning are disgracing our name!
I'll...
Read moreAs a 15 year resident in this neighbourhood, it's the first there has EVER been a Caribbean Restaurant at this location! Before I moved to another city, I made a commitment to visit Island Palace with my family; by far, I've yet to regret my decision to do so! Thank God for Island Palace's existence for not only keeping myself and family coming back to the community, but for also bringing the "Back Home" (Caribbean) hospitality. The customer service from the Chef, Host, and Owners have been consistently dedicating and welcoming; not to mention the food itself! As a confident and proud customer for 3 years, I encourage the visit and recommend the Veggie Roti with their Home-made Hot Sauce on the side! Finally, should you have time to share, take the time to talk and thank the staff after your meal. They will appreciate your positive experience because it mirrors their value for Island Palace...
