I heard from my brother in law that the owners of the location we went to in Mississauga was the same owner for the past 30 years. Naturally, I had high expectations for this place and brand. 30 years is a long time to stay in business, especially through COVID and multiple recessions. However, I was sincerely shocked at how the meat in my Pho was so tiny in portion and was clearly frozen before. There were no fresh chillies served with any of the hot noodle dishes. And the broth, though flavourful, was so cloudy it could easily have been made from a powdered stock base. No traces of freshly grilled onions or spices were present. If not for the Sriracha and Hoisin Sauce, I doubt I would have finished my noodles dish at all. Customer Service is almost non-existent (most Asian places same now to be fair). Though it was only 17 degrees outside, the inner door to the double door leading outside was propped open. This led to cold air blasting in everytime customers arrived. Without exaggeration, it felt like we were eating there because we had to and the staff were working there because they had no choice. The outdated furniture and decor with English radio playing as background music did not help either. How about playing Vietnamese music in a Viet food establishment? It felt too lowbrow and non-traditional and even a bit trashy listening to English radio while trying to establish authenticity to the Viet food I was trying to justify feeding my family with. I miss the days where restaurant service was friendly and the dining environment felt welcoming and warm. As a Gen X/Boomer, I bid Good Luck and Enjoy to the subsequent generations who patronise this location and brand. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." I do not intend on blaming myself for repeating the mistake of my eating at this...
Read moreShockingly Reckless Service & Subpar Food - A Danger to Families (1 star - Would give zero if possible)
As a parent who frequently dines out with my infant, I'm appalled by the hazardous negligence displayed by Pho Dao Bo's staff during our visit. What should've been a peaceful family lunch turned into a terrifying lesson in how not to handle customer safety.
Despite carefully positioning our stroller beside my seat (leaving ample server access from the opposite side), your employee willfully endangered my sleeping child's wellbeing. When carrying a scalding-hot pho bowl, the server deliberately reached over the stroller rather than using the clear pathway we'd intentionally created. An act so dangerously incompetent it defies basic serving protocol.
Upon politely requesting she use the safer route, the server snapped: "I don't see any stroller. You want me to go around now?" Her mocking tone and exaggerated eye-rolling make her a disqualified server.
This wasn't mere rudeness, but criminally negligent behavior risking third-degree burns to an infant. Any establishment serving hot liquids must train staff on child safety protocols - a fundamental duty your restaurant clearly neglects. That no manager intervened during this spectacle speaks volumes about your operational priorities.
While the revolting service overshadowed everything, the food merits warning: the noodles were thick yet mushy, resembling reheated leftovers rather than fresh preparation, this meal delivered negative value on...
Read more🍜 UPDATE: Unfortunately, my 1-star rating reflects what I feel PDB deservs. This used to be our go-to- place -- not quite anymore. There is a significant decline in quality, portion and flavour, yet prices gradually climb. Every item tastes lighter flavour wise, especially the fruits shakes, which, is bland as heck containing absolutely half of fruit thus tastes water down as. Either PDB is losing profit due to pandemic or they are just compromising their business integrity over profit and greed. Not smart, good business practice. They should be embarrassed to stand behind what they have put out there for their clients.
Sorry to say, our extended famiies and friends will essentially not be returning faithful customers after so many years. It is terrible enough for me to go elsewhere, even my. Perhaps PDB will reconsider their business practices, show customers they actually appreciate their business.
❌❌Good food, good portions, menu is limited to Vietnamese dishes. Pho is better than the rice dishes imo. Prices are a bit high but that's fair and in line with inflation and the fact they updated the place. Food and customer service is fast and most of the staff are efficient and polite albeit they do not really seem too engaging. Gave 3 stars because of small menu, like...
