Monga Fried Chicken — Restaurant in Mississauga

I’ve ordered here dozens of times now and I’ve noticed some recurring consistency issues. I read a few other reviews and it seems that I’m not the only one experiencing this. I ordered just yesterday and received excellent service.

My portion was unexpectedly better than usual, which delighted me because there have been times where I’ve ordered a bento and I get mainly the crispy breaded parts instead of actual chicken meat. This seemed to make up for it.

I ordered again today and the difference in portion and quality was far too significant for me not to say something. Not to mention, the staff today asked me to compromise my method of payment several times instead of figuring things out. They even asked me if I knew how to work the machine as if delegating their responsibilities to me. I suggested they ask their manager or co-worker as they would surely know better than the customer.

There was no apology or compensation for extended wait time with trying to pay, which didn’t help, and I wasn’t going to say anything but the bento I normally order was extremely lacking it was pathetic. Whilst the cheez chicken I ordered for the first time not only was not “chee z” it was also overly sauced as if to make up for the lack of cheese.. which was no longer stretchy from wait time.

To make things more complicated, there were no utensils for my friend and I to eat the meal with.

Very unprofessional and disappointing. Must be...

May 2025 update: Do yourself a favour and read the recent reviews. Stay away.

We’ve been customers for many years and we are saddened at the recent state of the quality.

We ordered some popcorn chicken and the chicken tasted so bad and is sour. It shouldn’t be sour. It’s like someone took chicken that gone bad and fried it. Typically when we order it takes at least 10mins but today the order took 3mins.

We were shocked this tasted so off compared to what we had normally - popcorn chicken WAS our favourite item but not anymore. I would not want to try the other chicken as this itself was so off.

I will keep an eye to see if the reviews picks up before trying again… —————————————————————

2024: Good on some days off on others. Great tasting chicken shop with some consistency issues.

On good days : freshly fried chicken and great taste with season. One of the few places to get Taiwanese fried chicken in Mississauga.

On “off” days (see screenshot) : ordered Taiwanese popcorn chicken take out. Chicken and fries looks “darker” than usual (we been here before it doesn’t look dark like so), either they were re-fried a second time to be heated up or they need to change their oil in the fryer.

In the end you “usually” can’t go wrong ordering chicken here, and is the only place to get authentic Taiwanese fried...

First of all, horrible service. Said it'll take 15 minutes, I came back 20 minutes later and it still wasn't ready and I had to wait another 10 minutes for my order. I wanted my sweet potato fries without the plum powder and confirmed that when I placed the order, surprise surprise it still came with the powder. I told my server about it and she curtly said '1 minute' and took it back. She should've apologized and not blatantly lie to my face. It wasn't 1 minute. It was another 15 minutes and the fries still wasn't ready. I was upset and irritated by this point so I took the order and left without the fries. I don't have time to waste half an hour waiting for it. When I opened up the rest of my order, my spicy chicken was not spicy. They gave me regular ones instead. Do they even pay attention to their customers when they take orders? I love fried chicken and I've tried countless fried chicken places. The chicken here did not even taste all that much better than Popeyes, and will cost you more than Popeyes ever will. And don't get me started on the baoger. Half of that is just vegetables, 1/3 is dough,1/3 is the sauce, and the last 1/3 is the mediocre meat. Tasted like cheap buffet food. This place is not worth the effort, money, and time. Totally not recommending this...
