Ordered 10oz steak, and received a 6oz steak instead (yes I measured I thought I was going crazy) Small and thin , main reason I ordered this is because it was advertised as a “10oz”. Second time this has happened. Never ordering steak from here again i rather go to competitors where they give proper portions and exact measurements when measurements are advertised.
I have always ordered thai green curry in the past from this location- Maybe 20-30 times … but recently (maybe it’s a new chef during weekdays) the quality is horrible. It’s a watery soup with 2-3 pieces of small shrimp, few broccoli and green pepper pieces and a bunch of carrots used as a filler, then also gives you big portion of white rice on the side ….It’s a joke now. It used to be a huge portion of different vegetables but now it’s no different than a soup broth with a few pieces of vegetables in it… very disappointing. This is why I have stopped my regular orders of the Thai green curry.
If you eat in person in restaurant during weekends it’s 5 stars but the quality of food when ordering delivery / takeout during the weekdays is disappointing when it’s not as good as I know it can be. Maybe different chef or using less ingredients / smaller portions now due to inflation.. they’re getting 2 stars from me currently, when they used to be 5 since they opened.
Edit and Update two months later:
I think they have newer and better chefs because the Thai green curry (and red curry) dish is back to being great again. Lots of veggies and great portion of protein. I ordered few more times takeout & Uber eats in past months and it’s been consistently great again. Green curry is my number one choice for a meal again, highly recommend it. And the spring rolls are always an hit in my household! Always arrives fresh and hot to our doorstep!...
Read moreI don't normally eat Thai food, so I cannot really critique the food based on similar standards. That being said, I will try to critique it based on my experience of the food.
I ordered a Beef Khao Soi for my meal.
Plating: On first impressions, quite impressive. The colors pop, the food is well plated, and looks extremely appetizing.
Protein: I had a beef Khao Soi. The beef disappointed. It was hard, chewy, and overcooked. It was dry- despite it being soaked in a curry- stringy, and chalky. - 2 stars, given that beef is considered a costly ingredient in today's society.
Noodles: Cooked to perfection, both crispy noodles and the main noodles.
Curry: Noticeable spice, with enough coconut to mellow it out. No fault here.
Spices: Good amount of spices, decent balance, but I got a large chunk of something, could be cardamom, or cinnamon? Not the best experience there.
Veg and Garnishes: I have no criticism here, everything works well together.
Service: Over 40 minutes to serve food, and it came staggered. Not great service, especially at 7:30pm, when dinner rush is nearing its end. Appetizers were served at a decent pace, but over 40 minutes for a table of 6 nears a slow pace. -2 stars
Atmosphere: Great, small vibes, cozy lighting, clean environment, well maintained washrooms.
Overall, thairoomgrand has so much potential, but I cannot give it a recommendation given the overcooked beef. If I order a beef dish, I could care less the rarity: it's chunks of beef. What I care about is the quality. Overcooked beef in a $20 dish is unacceptable. Maybe I got a bad dish, or old stock. If ever I come back, I'll try another dish, and update accordingly. But at this time, I cannot recommend thairoomgrand. There's just too much competition in the area for solid eats in the...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Thai Room Grand in Mississauga, and I must say it was a delightful experience. From the moment I entered the restaurant, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy atmosphere. I also order take out from them when ever I'm in the area and craving good food.
The menu offered a wide range of Thai dishes, and I decided to try their green curry, red curry, and mango sticky rice. Each dish exceeded my expectations in terms of flavor and presentation. The curries were rich, fragrant, and packed with authentic Thai spices. The green curry had a perfect balance of heat and creaminess, while the red curry had a bold and robust flavor. The mango sticky rice was a sweet ending to the meal, with the perfect combination of fresh mango and sticky rice.
One standout dish for me was the khao soi, which quickly became my favorite. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the broth had a wonderful depth of flavor. It was evident that the ingredients were fresh, and the dish was prepared with care.
One thing I appreciated about Thai Room Grand was their attention to detail when it came to spice. They provided a perfect amount of chili oil on the side, allowing me to customize the heat level according to my preference. It was a nice touch that added an extra layer of flavor to the already delicious dishes.
Overall, I highly recommend Thai Room Grand for anyone looking for a satisfying Thai dining experience in Mississauga. The restaurant offers a welcoming ambiance, attentive service, and most importantly, incredibly tasty Thai cuisine. Whether you're a fan of classic dishes like green curry and red curry or looking to explore lesser-known gems like khao soi, Thai Room Grand is sure to leave...
