I came across this shop 2 times early morning and they don't open to the public before 1 pm. This Friday I planned my visit from Burlington and they deserve it.
Before writing my review let me explain to those who never taste these precious bombs before. Middle Eastern cuisine has 2 different types of sweet bomb
-Types 1 is the Zalabya or Iugmat algaddy ( the perfect dough is crispy outside and moist or fluffy inside ). Topping with sheer syrup. -Type 2 the Lugimat ( crispy inside out and flavoured with saffron ) topping with molasses and sesame.
Now my review on Zalabya shop, they are so friendly and welcoming. Small shop with a modern, trendy theme. Very clean and well-maintained. Reasonable in price compare to rich topping they offer and the size of the one Zalabya it self. Very generous on toppings. Most important the amount of sugar on the toppings is semi-sweet but still a sugar curse 😁 I have the large box with 3 toppings ( louts - Nutella - molasses).
The zalabya it self brought my tears 😭 once I threading needle the crisp sound was yaah this is the one.. The surprise came after first bite, it is the perfect dough! I recall my mom's homemade. So, it is well done Zalabya. crispy outside and fully moist inside.
My business advice is to have Lugimat (type 2) as Ramadan signature with arabic coffee on house. So Zalabya will be the right stop after Iftar or Tarawih based on his strategic location.bring the logo character to life to be Madam Zalabya active in social media!
Hope to keep this dough bomb...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to try the Arabic sweet at Zalabya and let me tell you, it was a truly delicious experience.
The Zalabya was made fresh and was warm and crispy on the outside, while the inside was soft and fluffy. The chocolate on top was the perfect balance of sweetness and added a nice touch of flavour.
One of the things that stood out to me about this Zalabya was the texture. It was light and airy, and not at all heavy or greasy like some fried sweets can be. It was also not overly sweet, which I appreciated as it allowed the natural flavor of the dough to shine through.
The sweetness was perfect and not overpowering, Zalabya fillings with Nutella, and Pistachio on top.
The service at the place I visited was also great. The staff were friendly and attentive, and they were happy to answer any questions I had about the different types of Zalabya available.
Overall, I would highly recommend trying Zalabya if you haven't already. It's a delicious and unique sweet that you won't find anywhere else. The texture, flavour, and freshness make it a standout among other fried sweets, and it's...
Read moreWe went on the recommendation of family members who said the shakes were amazing and very “instagram worthy”.
When we got there and ordered we were asked if we wanted the shakes to go. There is basically no seating at this place so we said yes. When the shakes were finally made (took half an hour on a weekday) the jars had lids on them.
I asked the worker why they weren’t decorated, she said because we asked for to go that meant we would just get the shake with none of the cute toppings (we were never informed of this). I asked her if she charged me less as she didn’t give me any of the fancy toppings that I thought I was paying for. She said she charged me the normal amount. I politely asked her if she could add the toppings and just remove the lid. She refused. When we insisted, she called her manager who hesitantly took the jars back to decorate. They just threw a few chocolates on top of it and gave it back to me. Really disappointing.
I’m giving the restaurant 3 stars because the fried donut balls saved me the trip to Mr. Puffs...
