Potato Bar — Restaurant in Mississauga

We recently visited Potato Bar at Ridgeway Plaza, and I have to say—it’s a seriously underrated gem if you’re a fan of creative, hearty comfort food. The concept is simple but brilliant: take the humble potato and elevate it into a satisfying, customizable meal that hits all the right notes.

Let’s start with the food, which is the real star here. The potatoes—whether baked, mashed, or fried—are cooked perfectly every time. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and absolutely delicious. The topping options are where things get fun. From savory pulled meats and melty cheese to fresh veggies and unique sauces, every combination we tried was spot on. You can go indulgent with loaded options or build something lighter if that’s your vibe. The flavor profiles are well thought-out, and you can tell quality ingredients are being used.

They also offer some nice sides and drinks to round out the meal. The portions are generous, and everything comes out hot and fresh. It’s the kind of food that leaves you full, happy, and already thinking about your next visit.

The atmosphere inside is casual and welcoming. The décor is modern and clean, with just the right amount of rustic charm. It’s a great spot for a quick lunch, casual dinner, or even a low-key date night. They’ve really nailed that cozy, laid-back energy that makes you want to hang out for a while.

Now, for the areas that could use some attention:

First, the parking situation at Ridgeway Plaza can be frustrating, especially during peak hours. It can take a while to find a spot, and depending on where you park, it might be a bit of a walk. Not a dealbreaker, but definitely something to be aware of if you’re in a hurry or have mobility concerns.

Second, the service was a bit inconsistent. While not unfriendly, it lacked the warmth and attentiveness that would take the experience to the next level. We had to wait a bit longer than expected to be acknowledged, and there seemed to be some disorganization behind the counter. Nothing major, but enough to stand out in an otherwise excellent visit. A little more focus on hospitality and customer flow would make a big difference.

That said, the food more than makes up for it, and the concept is genuinely great. Potato Bar brings something fresh and flavorful to the area, and we’ll definitely be coming back. With just a few tweaks in service and parking logistics, it could easily be a five-star experience every time.

Highly recommend giving it a try if you’re in the area—you won’t leave hungry, and you might just discover your new favorite...

I visited here last night with my boyfriend and we were so happy with our experience. It was surprisingly very busy considering it was a Sunday night around 8PM, but it is an extremely busy plaza in general and the food was worth it in the end.

We ordered the Nashville Chick and the Big Philly. We thought that Nashville Chick was good, but the Big Philly was by far our favourite. The smoked potato base was so creamy and flavourful, and the meat, which we were told is roasted/cooked for 5 hours, was incredible! My boyfriend actually said he preferred his Nashville Chick when he was eating the leftovers cold - so you know the food is good when it tastes good hot and cold!

The portions are great as well - we both ate half of our portions and got full, so we saved the other halves and had them for later. The Big Philly reheated really well, but if you got things like coleslaw or had colder elements on your potato it may not reheat as nicely.

Again, the place was packed, so it was hard to find a seat. It took us about 15 minutes from walking in to receiving our food, and by the time we got it we had managed to snag a table. I do have to mention the tables were quite messy as I didn’t see them being cleaned between customers. We had to clean our table off with some paper towels as there was spilled food, but I do understand that will happen when the place is as busy as it was, and all the employees were busy working fast to get everyone’s food out. Not a big deal to us, but I know some people are picky about that!

Side note - they also have a big tv that was playing the NBA all-stars game, so it’s a good place to grab a bite and catch the game as well!

All in all, we had a fantastic experience here! I think it’s a genius idea to have a subway or chipotle- type food option revolving around the humble potato, where you can choose a set item off the menu or build your own potato with your favourite toppings! It’s also a great food option for people who are sensitive to gluten! Very filling without the bloat that comes with eating all the bread in a pizza, burger, shawarma wrap or sandwich! Very unique place, fantastic food and service; I will definitely be coming back!

My first visit to Potato Bar was in December last year and since then I've been completely hooked.

Potato Bar is the perfect spot to go to when you’re craving some tasty & filling food but not sure what you want exactly, because they have endless variations and options to play around with from savoury to sweet that’ll satisfy any and every craving.

They have options no matter what your dietary restrictions are, from halal meat to vegetarian and vegan options. They also have insanely huge portions so it’s like 2 meals in 1 and always leaves me full without feeling overly unhealthy or gross.

I can't recommend their supreme fries enough – loaded with cheese, coleslaw, chickpea salad and their shredded chicken, then topped with their chipotle and honey mustard sauce. It’s my go-to order and is an experience that hits the spot every time.

The store’s decor is also always clean as well as so unique and modern, and you can see the time and effort put into it.

The owners of Potato Bar deserve special recognition for their constant exceptional service, who are always extremely kind, greet you with a smile on their face, are helpful with recommendations, and make everything with love.

In conclusion, I cannot recommend Potato Bar enough. All of my friends and family who I’ve told about Potato Bar have all loved it and keep coming back for more. The combination of their huge portions, fresh ingredients, diverse menu, accommodating options, outstanding service, and inviting atmosphere make it a must-try spot that’s worth the visit and the addiction that comes...
