Great First Experience at Ottoman Turkish Grill
We visited Ottoman Turkish Grill in Mississauga for the first time as a group of five on a Saturday evening. Surprisingly, it wasn’t crowded, and we were seated right away. They even let us choose our preferred table, which was a nice touch.
Our server, Zainab, was fantastic. She was cheerful, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. From the moment we sat down to the time we left, she took care of us with a big smile and made sure everything was smooth. Honestly, all the staff seemed friendly and easy to talk to, which made the whole experience even better.
We went with their recommendations and ordered the mixed appetizer plate, mixed grill, and a pida with beef and chicken. The food came with 5 or 6 pieces of complimentary bread, which was great. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The only thing we all noticed was that the Beef Adana Kebab was a bit dry, probably because it was made with very lean meat. Not a dealbreaker, just something to note.
What really stood out was the portion sizes. They were generous, way more than we expected. Looking at the menu prices alone doesn’t give you the full picture. Once the food arrives, you realize the value is actually very fair. So don’t let the prices throw you off, they make sense once you see what you’re getting.
To top it off, we were served complimentary Turkish black tea and baklava. Both were good and wrapped up the meal nicely. We also appreciated that there’s no service charge for groups under eight, which felt fair and transparent.
Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed everything. We’d definitely recommend Ottoman Turkish Grill and look forward to...
Read moreHigh reviews of this place gives me the impression that either the reviews are fake or customere are asked to put a 5 star review (same as they ask you to do so at Sultanahmet Turkish Resto).
Being a new restaurant and given that there are so many turkish restaurants in the GTA now, i am doubtful that this place will last long. You could see my opinion and review is harsh, but the I'm just being honest. The food was not good, just ok, below average. The first time we went, the food was not seasoned properly and we were served a dessert that was frozen.
OK fine. They're new, give them a second chance I thought, except this time it turned out to be just as bad. First of all, our chicken was not well cooked and hsd to be sent back.to my surprise, instead of getting freshly well cooked chicken after, I was served the same thing that I had returned(I could tell because of the way I had cut it) and it was returned to me burned this time. great job! I was so surprised and hesitated to even eat that.
Secondly, the service is slow and food takes an extra long time to come. we waited for over 45 minutes for the food to arrive and the portion does not even match the one on the menu. The amount of bulgur served on a mixed grill plate for two was barely even enough for one person. I could go on and on with this place and how disappointed I am, not to mention how overpriced it is, but I'll leave it at that.
If you're looking for a good halal turkish restaurant in the GTA, please consider going elsewhere. Save your money (at least you won't be served...
Read moreThis restaurant has a decent ambiance and comfortable environment. The best thing that makes this restaurant superior over loads of other Turkish restaurants in the city is they offer water on the table at no charge. All other cheap greedy Turkish restaurants (Eat meat, Sultan Ahmet etc) have a policy of not offering water, you have to purchase / pay for water as well. This restaurant is fairly new and they can improve some deficiencies and can do way more better. This is a reasonably priced restaurant with good portion sizes. The food flavours need to be improved. The bbq and kebabs were bland with no salt and no taste. They should focus on improving the taste of the food as this matters most. We ordered chicken kebabs that were bland, chicken bbq skewers that also had no flavour, got two donor plates with chicken and beef mixed that were mediocre, the chicken mixed pide was dry with least topping. The buglers served in the dishes were cold. There’s something wrong somewhere and needs to be checked. The waitress was very pleasant and caring. They offered Turkish tea on the house after the dinner. The waiter who brought the tea was holding cups from the top with bare hands instead of from the cup handle. It’s absolutely not acceptable and the restaurant should give basic etiquette training to the staff that bare hands should not be touching the food, the plates or tableware. Overall it was not a great experience regarding the food taste. I would try them once again and see if the food flavours have improved. If not then it would be...
