Quickly becoming a new favourite place for pizza. As mentioned, it's wood oven cooked and overall they finish quite quickly. The longest wait is honestly for other pizzas to come out so yours can go in. Customisation is available while the pizzas are being made in front of you as well, so whatever (little) extras you desire, you can get.
The crust is good in flavour and doesn't allow oil to seep in that much. I'll be asking for a little more well done though because I like my slices to have a bit of backbone and their slices are just a tad floppy. To be expected as it's a thin base.
The red sauce is also quite good. Better than some of the other chain stores (Pizza Hut, I swear, you had a good thing going and you ruined it by cutting back on the sauce...). It has a lingering acidity to it which can last a little while after you finish your pizza, but it's more a remaining flavour than "ow it burns", which to me seems like fresh made sauce. My only gripe is the sauce serving is a little light by default, but again I could ask for a bit more.
The cheese is quite generous, especially with the four cheese offering. I enjoyed this more than the pepperoni (more in a moment), tasting the flavour and texture differences between them. Even their basic mozzarella has a bit more presence than the main pizza chains.
So far I've only ordered a basic pepperoni and the 4 cheese. As mentioned the 4 cheese was my favourite so far, but that's because the pepperoni didn't have an appreciable taste, to me. It was there, both visually (in decent quantity) and occasionally I'd catch a hint when taking a bite, but I've found the smaller radius pepperoni seldom give me the spicy kick I like. The normal "medium" radius pepperoni you can buy elsewhere in stores or at the big chains gets my approval, and would be a welcome topping addition. Also, for a specialty chain like DoughBox, I'm surprised they don't also offer the "large" pepperoni common to Brooklyn style which would be a great match for the thinner crust as well.
Overall, for a pizza place, I think it's great. The only reason it's 4 stars is because of a disappointing...
Read moreWent here for a spot of lunch with a big appetite. The atmosphere of the restaurant when walking in is quaint, clean and casual with images of Italian culture on the walls and Italian pop music playing on the speaker.
My wife had ordered the classic Margherita pizza and I had the pepperoni pizza, with the custom iced teas and lemonade (peach and blue raspberry).
The pizzas were ready after a 5 minute wait and they looked and smelled amazing. The margherita pizza looked like a truly Naples-style thin crust pizza with a simple tomato sauce, melty mozzarella and fresh basil. The pepperoni pizza had that authentic pizzeria smell of oregano with the pepperoni slices cupping upwards.
First bite told me that this place knew what it was doing. The pizza dough was nicely charred and just crispy enough while still retaining a great chew. The pepperoni was just salty and oily enough and paired with the Italian seasoning, it was heaven. The margherita was light and airy, with fresher tomato sauce and creamy mozzarella.
I will definitely be coming back here. The service was friendly and helpful with our order. The place was stylish and clean and the pizza was awesome. I highly recommend coming here on a date night or just if you are simply craving truly authentic tasting Naples-style thin...
Read moreMyself and my husband went on Sunday around 530 pm. We both ordered the unlimited pizza with unlimited toppings. The pizza and everything was great! Which is why we always come back! Only when my husband asked for meatball on his pizza, the server picked up one meatball and crumbled it on top. He asked if she could but another meatball on and she said no, it is limited to one meatball per pizza....in the past when we have ordered we have never had this issue before and have always had 1-3 meatballs on a pizza no issue. But this time it seemed to be an issue. He then asked for extra sauce on top of his toppings, specifically the spicy sauce and she offered the chilli flakes instead rather than giving him the spicy sauce as she said the sauce is just the regular sauce with chili flakes. He said no he just wants the spicy sauce and she said she will just put the chili flakes rather than the sauce.. He then just asked for the regular sauce which she complied with. Everything was great otherwise, just if we are getting unlimited toppings it seemed my husband was pretty limited in his request for toppings. He was not not getting anything extravagant (just halal pepperoni, meatball, onions and tomatoes). I had no issues with having my pizza made at all,...
