Review:
I've been to a lot of 'fine dining' places across different countries & cities, but MISHREE stands out as one of the least favourable ones on that list, & I'll highlight exactly why.
My friends wanted to try this place for their birthdays, & since it was a special occasion, we were willing to travel a little bit to make the night memorable (we live approx 25-40 km away). We were greeted & shown to our table by our hostess, & honestly, she's one of the most inconsiderate professionals I've come across.
When we asked for tap water instead of the bottled water that was on our table, she said and I quote, "Yes, we do have tap water, but it would be really appreciated if you could drink bottled water, and also, it's recommended for health reasons." I've NEVER been given such a statement or defense when asking for tap water - it's been as simple as "yes, we do, I'll bring it right out" or "no, unfortunately, we don't serve tap water" - straight responses instead of what we heard. It's unbelievable to me that when you're part of the hospitality industry that's meant to be service-oriented, this is the sort of people you need to deal with.
The food was alright - no issues there. Nothing fantastic, but standard for what the expectation is at such a place. Drinks too were alright.
We had a little table lamp that kept turning off on its own, so most of the time, we spent talking to each other in darkness. When we changed the light on the lamp for more of a mood, she came to us and said "I understand you like mood lighting - I do too, but this is restaurant property & you're interfering with the overall vibe of the place" - because ONE table in some corner was different to the entire place, with a lamp that kept turning on and off, and she also assumed that we turned the lamp off ourselves & asked us "Did it go off on its own or did you do something?" The hosts/hostesses were extremely snooty & lacked people skills - and it shows their professionalism or lack thereof.
Message to Restaurant:
Our wait staff was fine and quick to take orders and bring them out - we didn't mind waiting because we were catching up after ages so that's all well and good.
Please train your hosts and hostesses to treat people with a little more respect and dignity - just as they'd like to be treated. Telling me that "it's appreciated if you consume bottled water" is a very underhanded way of saying "give me your hard-earned money".
Coming to our table again and again and trying to butter us up after talking us down was really unprofessional, and quite rude. And then insinuating that we're messing with the vibe of the place because we changed the colour on our lamp that kept turning off on its own due to low battery or a timer or whatever, is just downright angering. It took everything within me and my friends to keep a straight face throughout her presence at our table. And we're very patient and tolerant - she was downright patronizing. If I wanted to have my mother hover over me at meal time, I'd be at home and also, I'd be 10 years old, not in my 30s.
Give respect to get respect - we did our bit, but she certainly didn't. I understand it might be a busy night and there's a lot of pressure - but this is the sort of thing that people train for - regardless of industry. My friend herself has been a hostess, and she's dealt with all manner of requests, but never has she talked down to paying customers.
The words to describe her would be: Patronizing - Rude - Inconsiderate - Unprofessional - Lacking People Skills
There's places closer to me (read: competing restaurants) that I've gone to several times with several different friends and family, and the experience has been excellent every single time - no matter the time, day, the size of the party. I hope you're one of those places that takes customer feedback seriously and takes necessary steps to combat the situation. Otherwise, the exercise of opening up a restaurant will have...
Read moreWell well well. I went there to celebrate my birthday I made my booking online and I called them to book patio and informed them I'm coming to celebrate my birthday. Before reaching the restaurant I called them to inform I will be late by 5 to 10mins so they don't cancel my booking. My patio seating request came as a surprise nobody informed the front desk about it I told them it's my birthday I need the patio seating and I have booked in advance and called to confirm the same. On arrival to the restaurant we had to wait for 10 plus minutes to get a table they moved us to two people seating and we were 3of us I immediately said NO and they asked me to wait for another 5mins I didn't make a fuss about it because it was my birthday Our server arrived 10mins after we were seated. We ordered our drinks which was below average in taste for $35 you get better cocktails for way less. We placed our food order we started with two starters it took them 20mins to get one dish and another 15mins to get second starter. The food was nice. But our server didn't get water she forgot to get my son's juice I had to wait for 15mins for her to show up and very conveniently she said oh I forgot. Later we ordered another starter and main course which took 20 plus mins to arrive and please note we wanted water the server didn't serve us water and she was nowhere close to our table so we had to wait for her. I asked her to serve water she just poured in one glass I mean which restaurant server does that there are two more glass I had to ask her to fill the other glasses. She was not interested in serving and was making weird facial expression. It was almost time to leave and there was no birthday wishes absolutely nothing. The server didn't even ask us if we wanted something else any dessert by then I was so annoyed I just wanted to leave we didn't even eat our mains we packed it and got it home the place was not at all welcoming. The bill arrived and I gave $5 tip to my server for her bad service I wanted to give her nothing and the face she made. I would have tipped you alot it was my birthday but the attitude and the not so welcoming behaviour is not acceptable. Avoid this place to celebrate special occasion. Make sure to check twice if you have any special request. Be ready to tip alot even if you get bad service else the server will give you bad stare as if you ate for free and drinks are quite average please save money. Food is...
Read moreLast night, we eagerly ventured to this newly unveiled gem in Mississauga, drawn by the anticipation of its grand opening after a period of construction. The moment we stepped through the entrance, we were greeted by a sense of opulence, and the staff extended a warm welcome that set the tone for the evening.
Our journey began as we were gracefully ushered to our table, where we eagerly perused the extensive cocktail menu. The array of options was impressive, and our amiable waitress proved to be a delightful guide in navigating the selections. Although our initial foray into cocktails left us wanting more in terms of flavor and composition, our transition to beer offered a refreshing alternative.
The culinary adventure unfolded with the arrival of a delightful array of seven appetizers. Standouts included the Raj kachori and veg momos, both of which proved to be gastronomic delights that could be savored endlessly. The malai chap, with its exceptional flavors, stood out as a true culinary masterpiece. However, the chicken tikka starters fell short, lacking the flavorful punch we had anticipated. The Chicken Angara tikka, in particular, required a generous dunk in green chutney to awaken our taste buds.
The bread selection, featuring outstanding rotis and naans, was a testament to the kitchen's skill. Our journey through the mains encountered mixed reviews; while the Hyderabadi seekh impressed with its well-prepared skewers, the accompanying gravy left us yearning for a touch more finesse. On the other hand, the veg paneer masala emerged as a triumph, showcasing the kitchen's prowess with vegetarian delights.
Amidst the culinary odyssey, the evening's crescendo was undeniably the pulsating beats orchestrated by the resident DJ. However, the volume reached levels that bordered on overwhelming, drowning out conversation and even defying our attempts to communicate with the attentive waitress. Despite our repeated requests to moderate the sound, our pleas went unanswered, culminating in regrettable headaches that overshadowed an otherwise enjoyable evening.
In summary, the potential of this establishment is undeniable, with moments of culinary brilliance and a vibrant atmosphere. A return visit would be eagerly embraced if the management takes heed of the feedback, especially in addressing the volume levels to ensure an all-encompassing and truly enjoyable experience for...
