I understand how difficult it is being a small-business owner. I understand how difficult it is to manage staff and the food quality.
Our recent experience with Al-Kabab makes me scratch my head. We had ordered a catering tray for Chicken Palak along with Quorma and Rice. The pick up time was 2 pm but I got a teeny bit late and came by at 3 pm to pick it up. When we opened the trays we saw that the Palak had gone bad! Next morning we called Al kabab and explained this to them and was met with a very cold and rude response 'oh you picked it up late'. I did not quite catch the name of the person but they need to go to school for customer service. If it was picked up late, the entire order should have gone bad. Also what freshly cooked food goes bad within a few hours of being prepared? That too, in this cool (not humid) weather! The atrociousness of the responses we were getting from the person on the phone was shocking. We tried to talk to a manager or a supervisor but could not get in touch. Surprising as Shaheen and Al Mustafa owners have always been available to talk and develop a relationship. We offered to give our number so the owner (Nadeem) could call us. But we did not hear anything. There was a person Saima who we spoke too who understood our stance and even agreed (Al Kabab - give her a raise and kick the other person out!).
The (rude) guy then said to bring the palak tray back (which was thrown in the garbage) and they will give us a 10% discount for the next order. Note, they know I live in Ancaster and it is far from Mississauga. Also, with that level of horrible customer service why would I ever go back?
Also I want to make it clear that I was not looking for a refund or anything. Just a polite apology would have worked along with a statement: 'how can we make it up to you?'. Customer Service 101. We have been regular with Shaheen and Al Mustafa. One time a dish from Shaheen was sub-par and we called the owner (who makes himself available for their customers! LEARN FROM THIS NADEEM) and told him and said just be careful next time. A few minutes later I received an e-transfer for the refund of the dish. I did not even ask for that amount!
Al Kabab - you have potential, your customer service sucks. We have an upcoming catering for 500 people - we were considering Al Kabab as their biryani and quorma I had heard were awesome. Guess what? You lost out on a 500 people catered event. Due to two reasons: 1. rudeness from the guy on the phone (Maybe his name was Aan) and 2. the owner not being available.
I try not to leave such bad reviews but had no choice.
ORIGINAL REVIEW from 2019: Their chargha with rice is the best one in town. The service isn't the best. The guy behind the counter is somewhat in a hurry. Good place. Just needs some...
Read moreVery Disappointing Experience: Takeaway Restaurant Fails to Address Food Quality Issue!
I have serious concerns about the establishment's commitment to food safety and customer satisfaction.
We ordered food for an Iftari at a mosque, for about 50-60 people. Chicken Palak amongst all the dishes The appeared stale, with a noticeable odor indicating spoilage.
We made immediate alternate arrangenents, and decided to inform AlKebab the next morning. Hoping this was an isolated incident, I reached out to the restaurant to express my concerns. To my dismay, the owner through their different employees of [Al-Kebab] not only dismissed my complaint but also refused to take any responsibility for the subpar quality of the food. Instead of acknowledging the issue and offering a solution, the owner remained adamant, insisting that the food was fresh, I did not even once ask for a refund or anything of the sort, but an apology may have sorted the matter out, in the first place.
AL -KEBAB instits that we picked up the food two hours late and hence it has gone bad, are you f*^%ING kidding me, no food goes bad in two hours that too in winter.
This blatant disregard for customer feedback is deeply troubling and reflects poorly on the restaurant's integrity and commitment to excellence. As a consumer, I expect to be treated with respect and for my concerns to be taken seriously, especially when it comes to matters of food safety.
In light of this disappointing experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend Al-Kebab to others. It is my hope that this review serves as a warning to fellow diners and prompts Nadeem and AL kabab] to reevaluate its policies and prioritize customer satisfaction and food quality...
Read moreThis restaurant is a regular spot for me being close proximity to my office, and it’s usually quite busy—a good sign of its popularity. Recently, they’ve added a few new items to their menu, including a zinger burger and wings. I decided to give both a try, and while one was okay, the other fell short.
The zinger burger gets a 7/10. The flavor was decent, but the burger wasn’t well put together, making it a bit messy to eat. To make matters worse, the amount of fries that came with it was disappointing—barely 10–12 pieces. They were just regular Cavendish fries, the kind you’d find in bulk at grocery stores. Honestly, it felt like they may as well not have included them at all.
The wings were a mixed experience. While they were fried perfectly and the portion size was generous, the sauce was completely overdone. The wings were drowning in sauce, and the container itself was flooded with excess to the point where it felt like chicken wing curry. While a little extra sauce is understandable, this was far too much—enough to coat an additional 7–8 wings. Unfortunately, it ruined what could have been a great dish.
That said, I’d recommend sticking to their Desi food, which is reasonably priced and full of flavor. Yes, it can be a bit oily, but that’s par for the course with this type of cuisine, and the taste makes up for it.
Overall, this place is dependable for its classic offerings, but some of the newer menu items could use improvement, both in execution and...
